https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opin ... tance.html

On September 5th 2018 The New York Times published an opinion piece from some one in the Trump administration. The NYTs knows the identity of the author and that the author is a senior official in the Trump administration.

The opinion piece starts; "I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations." From there it only gets worse. Everyone should read it.

Website "mybookie" has put odds on the identity of the author and they think it's....

::SPOILERS::

MyBookie head oddsmaker David Strauss said wrote:"what tipped us off was ‘lodestar’. When you search members of the administration (who have used that word) only one name comes up – and that name is SPOILERS. He’s used in multiple speeches this year.”
This administration continues to disappoint me.

Interesting. I thought Pence initially. Not because of any sense of patriotism or honor, but due to what he'd gain by the President's exit. I eliminated him as he's appeared to blindly embrace everything that's come from any Trumpian orifice. :) It would not surprise me if it's someone not on that list at all, like soon to be departing white house council Don McCahn. while Mr. Trump and his minions have assumed he's part of Team Orange, McCahn actually represents the office of the President, not the man, has had a ring side seat to the circus, and has already been speaking with the Mueller team. I know the author said he's on the team, but that could be a ruse, as well as the use of the word "lodestar." Just a wild guess on my part. Given all the leaks these days, I imagine we'll soon find out the author's identity. In the interim, it should be a fun game guessing.

NYT knows who this is and they know he is a member of the Trump team.

I think the 3 clues are:
  • Clue #1: Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment
  • Clue #2: We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.
  • Clue #3: We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life and our national dialogue.
Clue #1 leads me to believe that this person was apart of the Trump Administration(TA) in the early days. If that is the case, many of the higher ups in the early days has since moved on or been fired. The pool of people aren't big to begin with.

Clue #2 speaks to me like someone who likes Trump policy. This isn't a neutral party or a White House counsel type person. This is a Republican member of the TA that agrees and pushes Trump's policy.

Clue #3 is someone who likes John McCain. I think this removed the possibility of any alt-right Trumpsters like Stephen Miller.

So we are looking for a traditional-type Republican who was there in the early days of the TA that has a lot of respect for John McCain, and holds a position where political policy matters.

Of course NYT knows. They printed it. My point was that the Trump staffer that wrote it might have intentionally used Pence's frequently used "lodestar" to trick people into thinking the source might be someone else, like Pence.

I see what you mean.

I agree, they could have played all sorts of word games to avoid detection.

This tweet sums this up nicely:
