Ok now its not a question about if the cams work, the s13 engine is 155hp with the cams and the s14 is 155 without the cams. The thing is if you put the s13 cams in the s14 you gain hp so that means its stronger then the s13. Now if you were to have to buy a new engine for your car is it better to get an s13 engine or an s14 with the s13 cams? Because it came to me, would the s13 put out as much power with the same bolt ons as the s14 with s13 cams?

I think the fact that the S14 does better with the S13 cams is prolly due to a better MAF, allowing more airflow, the dropping of the butterflys from the intake track, and better ECU program. The core engine (head minus the cam, block) is the same on both cars.

The reason I've read is:

S13 came with better cams (maybe 5rwhp) but a less aggressive ECU, and the restrictive MAF.

S14 had a more aggressive ECU (91 octane minimum, etc...), better MAF, but mild cams.

Makes sense...

i c, so it would probably be better to get the s14 engine and the s13 cams seeing how you can get them for around 100 bucks.

Exhaust cams from the S13 are the best you can get from the junkyard. Nissan makes a 275 degree cam that I would really like to see in a KA24DE!
