Post

As some of you may know, back in February, I purchased a 1963 Impala wagon with an LT1 swap. After getting a few issues taken care of, it was time to address it's docking space.

The garage at my place was perfect for the Toyota Corolla that my mother-in-law owned before she passed in 2007, but it just wouldn't do for the oversized '63 land barge. So, this had to be remedied.

After moving the Going Broke to one of Neal's friend's for a bit, we got started on the new diggs.

Did some resarch and decided on a pretty large scale garage. It's long enough to fit the wagon and my Jeep end to end, and wide enough to go 2, possibly 3 if you squeeze a small car in, wide.

It's not the coziest place to hang out, but for cars, it will do quite nicely.

I won't bore you with details on each picture, so I am just going to throw up a few that I have and tell you the order of the picture series.

Starts off with the old garage, then moving the old garage to the back yard, moulding and pouring the concrete for the patio behind the house, moulding and pouring the concrete foundation for the new garage, putting up the new garage and the finished product.

You'll notice some other pics in there of the dog and Neal's younger brother. There are also a few of some shotty concrete supports that are all spongy looking. Was not happy with that, but it was taken care of before construction.

Anyway, enjoy!

And there you have it.I plan on putting some pics, posters and some other stuff in there as well in the future. But, that's how she sits as of now.

Looks like a hell of a job to move that garage to the back yard.

Hope there is still some backyard for the boys to play in next Summer when we are home, Pop.

You need a NICO banner on the back wall now...Greg...hint, hint.

LOL.

Looks nice, though.

Finally got around to getting Neal to host the other pictures of the outside of the garage. So, now I'll let you see what it looks like from the outside. And, yes, that is the old garage now behind the new one. It's going to be a storage shed of sorts.

Well, Greg, you have to make sure you are free the first two weeks of August of next year when the wife, kids, I and my guitarist come home for two weeks.

We'll throw a big ole party and the wagon, hopefully, will be done.

Make it happen, Chief!!!

Everything about this thread is awesome. You guys look like you don't mess around 1 bit.

Wanna move a building? Bolt it to a bigass trailer. Attach said trailer to an even bigger dodge. Proceed to move building/mountain/what have you.

May I ask why you finished the ceiling of the garage?

Did you put a storage platform up there?

Holy s*** that's awesome, I wish I had skills to build something like that. What are you doing with the old garage? It looks like the garage door opens up onto the lawn...

Greg, this is partially your fault. Had Neal not asked you to look at the car, then tell him to tell me to buy it, I probably wouldn't have gone so extreme. I most likely would have done a new garage for my Jeep and the wife's Suburban, but maybe not to this extent.

Amazing what a huge sum of money and some man power will do for ya, isn't it?
PoorManQ45 wrote:May I ask why you finished the ceiling of the garage?

To simply answer your question. Because I CAN. That's why.It was my money to do with as I pleased. Accept it and move on.

It also looks nicer to have a finished celing and I have an older car that I don't need crap falling down onto it.
PoorManQ45 wrote:Also, now you need to install and air line distribution system
While it would be nice to have that, I don't do a whole lot of work on my cars anymore. Don't really have the time or the patience or know-how. Neal on the other hand, would do it for me if HE STILL LIVED IN THE U.S., then I would put it in. But since he doesn't, I won't. I have a compressed air tank to keep the tires at the right pressure should it need to be addressed.

His name is spelled Neal, young grasshopper, and I am sure he'll let all you hooligans know about the BBQ next year and I'll have to deal with all of you invading my home, again. It's ok though, my wife and I enjoy the company. But be forewarned...if I notice something get out of hand or see something I don't like, I am not a bit hesitant to deal with it in my own way.

The old garage will hold some stuff that we have had in storage for a while, along with my snowblower and maybe Neal's brother, should he get out of line.

Based on the second part of your response I take it that you put in a storage platform up above?

No need to be grumpy.

I was just wondering why someone would waste all that awesome storage space in the rafters. Sorry to offend you.

Way to go, Pop. Scare everyone away. Sheesh, thanks.

No worries on spelling my name wrong. Hell, my best friends sometimes can't spell it, and I went to school with those clowns.

You all gotta help me convince Greg to make the BBQ next year. Or at least plan a National Event around that time. Would be quite nice to finally meet him face to face. Known the guy 4 years. Talked to him on the phone, AIM, and in the Mod forum, but have never got to shake his hand.

That's not grumpy, man. That's his nice side. Trust me, you don't want to see grumpy. It would rival most men's mean streak.

Oh, Lord, no. As far as I can remember, he said it took a few weeks. Had a few issues to sort out, but nothing really worth mentioning.

As a former professional shed mover, I'd say you did a quality job of moving that garage. Moving non-portable garages is a major pita. I had one completely fall apart on me once, in transit...
