The rpm will not got past 1,000rpm.

When i start the car it will stay at 100 and when i go on 1st gear the rpm will go up to 800 and its cool but when i go to all the gears and if i rev it will just go to 1,000 and drop what do i do peepz? Racer head. :help

if i am reading this right you are saying the tac is showing these numbers but the engine is still performing correct. the car wont run at 100 rpms.

What a coincidence. If I'm understanding cybertrn correctly, we may have similar problems.

First of all, I have a 96' 240.

Just recently, my tach has been acting very wierd. Everything runs fine but my tach won't move past 3.5k rpm although it will twitch slightly at 3.5 like it wants to move further. This happens in every gear.

This all started last night for me. The other odd thing is that this morning the tach wouldn't move past 2k rpm but after about 10 minutes or so of driving it was back up to 3.5k twitching away.

In fifth gear my tach will read about 2.5k which is normal for me.

Any ideas before I open up my gauge cluster?

My engine speed seems normal. Like I said, everything runs like usual. The tach just isn't functioning properly.

so try a friends to see if the tach is the problem
