After 3500 miles and more than 3 months with the car (couple of long road trips and quite a few around the town errands), I wanted to share some of the things that annoy me and see if you guys have found a solution to any.
First off, still like the rogue and the reasons I bought it for (roomy interior that feels high end for the segment, effortless if not exciting driving, panoramic moonroof and good storage) are still there but things keep coming up that I had never seen in my CRV (8 years) and Acura TL (7yrs).
1 - Nissan connect app integration is a borderline joke.
Never been able to get the Pandora app to work (still downloading..please wait).
Google search (and the voice search on that screen) takes several "minutes" to complete, IF the voice search gets it at all. Lot faster to just use google now on the phone and find the address.
I have a modern LG smartphone (that's supposedly supported according to Nissan website) and strong 4G signal most of the time.
2 - The apps have never worked with an iPhone 6. All of them say "waiting to be downloaded". I haven't bothered to go through all the troubleshooting that I did for Android, cause even if I get it to work, it's really not that useful anyway (see #1).
Baffling that Nissan would make it this hard for this feature to work. It's buggy and lousy.
3 - Washed the car the other day and saw soap/foam inside the rear tail lights. Never seen that in any of my other cars. Aren't they supposed to be sealed? What else is gonna leak?
4 - The navigation voice search takes at least 20 seconds to find an address. Not a huge deal but my "2008" acura nav voice search was FASTER.
I have had 4 occasions when the nav database can't find an address that google or a web search will. I am not talking new developments but old and established addresses.
5- Finally, the gas mileage for city driving is nowhere near EPA estimates. With eco mode on, ac off (most times) and very conservative driving, the best I do is 18-20mpg. With just one person and no cargo, most of the time. I am not sure how they arrived at the 25 city MPG. It's a LIE.
I still like the car, but have a sinking feeling that this one ain't gonna be as great as the Honda, Toyota and Acura I have had. I hope I am wrong.
