Also, 450 HP is a ****ton of HP when coupled with the fact that the power is available nearly instantaneously by a motor this potent and in a car that weighs a smidge over 3k lbs. The base C5's with 345 (or 350 if you have a 2001+) is very controllable, one of the reasons I went for a FRC instead of a C5Z as it's easier to drive at the limit (difference between 345 and 405 is extremely noticeable at knifes edge). I've driven C6 Grand Sports and C6Z's and 400+ is more than enough (500+ in the case of the C6Z).

Dampers are going to be more expensive for the C7, as their design changed from the previous generations (C5 and C6 dampers are the same design externally, I had a C6 GS damper on my FRC for a while as I stripped the threads of the top nut of my Koni Sport). I'm hoping GM has placed a flange after the cats now to make adding an X-pipe easier than a cut and weld job, it would cause much less headaches in stock class situations.

I was curious about that power to weight. 450hp 450 torque and 3311 lbs... probably very quick around corners but in a straight line is it going to be faster?

How fast is the ZR-1 0-60? I think its 3.4-3.8 seconds depending on which magazine runs the test. So how fast can the stingray be? I am guessing at 0-60 in 4.0-4.3? What is it designed to be shopped against? non turbo 911's, 4.2 Audi R8's?

The ZL1 Camaro (4100lb curb weight 580hp) is only $54k has a backseat and the same tail lights and can do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds? The SS can do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds.

3.9 for Stingray, same as C6 Grand Sport. In everyway, given the choice I'd rather have a C6 GS right now, but I've yet to drive a C7 or see how it functions in national level competition.

Its not hard to find a new car with a V8 that isn't making around 450hp. It doesn't seem like a lot of power to me but then Chevy has to protect the ZR-1 right. They got the tires right Michelin Pilot Super Sports are what I put on my car and they are FANTASTIC!

The release photos don't do a very good job compared to the car mag photo's? I've almost got over the 4 tail lights
I got my R&T yesterday too. Though I haven't taken my R&T reading dump yet, glancing at their photos, I'm still not liking the frown looking camaro tail-lens rear. I don't mind the interior's all business look. My neighbor is now in the market for a new 'vette. So I plan to accompany him when he visits Kerbeck (local dealer that specializes in vettes) for test drives :dblthumb: As info, he's selling his garage kept, mildly customized 2001 C5 (lambo doors, ghost flames and a "split window") if anyone is interested.
If lambo doors are "mild" customization, I'm pretty sure they're not "tasteful" customization.. no offence to your neighbor.

Same with me, except I still only love the R32. I'll pass on the rest.

I don't like the rear end of the new Vette. I see Camaro for sure...to me that's not a good thing. And the angles...way to sharp. I'll take a C6 please.

BTW, anyone that says it shares lines with the current GTR needs to step away from the crack pipe ;)

French women are soft with curves where they should be, not harsh. The new Vette is more alien than french chick...imho anyway. I want to like it. I love Corvettes, have since I was a wee pup. But this one...I just can't like it.

*Edit*
Then again, alien sex may be awesome ;)

No offense taken. I initially thought the same way when he told me he was getting lambo doors, but then I relented when I saw his doors were hinged two ways, so that they open both the traditional way and the "lambo" way. His customized touches are pretty subdued. He' won many cruise night trophies with that car. Here are a few shots:

the split window (he fabricated it himself)

Why is this atrocity "subdued" for Vettes when it would be flamed as absolute rice other cars?

Did he do ANY suspension work on the damn thing?

Can't even take it
