Hi All,

As usual, it has been a while since my last posting. Sorry for the absence.

I have spent the last year looking for a good '94 or '95 Q with very low mileage to replace my 160K girl. I was either too late and the car was gone or it turned out to be a soup sandwich when I went to look.

One Q I went to look at had about 60K on the odometer and the driver and passenger seats were destroyed and the driver side door panel had a tennis ball sized wear hole. I passed.

A second car had 71K on it but when I took the VIN and called the local dealer, his records showed the last service to be in 2002 with 112K on the clock. I said unkind things to the seller as I was leaving.

I've decided to stay with the car I know. I am now about $4000 into a complete refurbish of the car. New KS, O2 sensors, all soft parts on the engine, new timing and oil pump drive chains, new water pump, new coolant and fuel hoses, spark plugs, injectors, and a new alternator. The car now runs like the car I remember. Add to this new shocks and most of the bushings as well as new 300ZX brakes and this car is now happy, happy, happy.

Now I have to address some electrical issues, cig lighters have all died, all the electrics in the passenger side rear door have stopped, and the electric trunk release stopped. I'll deal with these when my aggravation level is exceeded.

What is the best answer for the stereo head unit. I will send the Bose speakers and amps out to be rebuilt but I would like a head unit the looks correct but has an installed CD player. A '99 truck unit seams to get allot of mentions. I also need to wire in a Sirius Sat receiver into the head unit instead of playing through the FM receiver. Any ideas?

I've driven allot of new cars in the last few years and very few of them can do what this car can do. I drove a new M45 for a week and could not wait to get back to my Q. I suspect it would cost $90,000 to replace this car. Nissan should never have built this or should never have stopped.

Why are you replacing chains on a 94 with only 160K ? They should last over 300K

I already had the parts and there was a little stretch in the timing chains. The oil pump drive looked good, but I was in there so I did it anyway.

All it takes is one failure on the road with the towing charge and a dealer having you over a barrel and any monies saved in maintenance is out the window.

Does anyone rebuild body modules? I see this as my next major area of attention.
