It's a block-off plate for an oil separator that would normally be fitted there if the engine was naturally aspirated which is found in early model CA18s up to and including the U.S. spec KN13 nissan pulsar variants. Since the engine is turbo and the intake manifold has been redesigned, nissan just blocked it off with the plate instead redesigning the head. As for the tube you're referring to, one end goes to the intake valve cover via a specially designed metal connection tube and the other end goes into the block via an L shaped elbow. It's actually an oil return system from the valve cover back to the block.sdtouge wrote:ok so ive begun reassebling the motor, i have the head on, turbo and exhaust mani on, timing belt on etc, valve covers, the upper intake mani is going on today hopefully
i have a question on this one pice, i will get a picture when my step mom comes back as my digi cam broke. i dont have it, and i think something goes here, where the coil packs bolt into, and that metal plate, there is a opening at the front of the motor, i am pretty sure its for oil, if anyone knows what piece im talking about let me know, its bolt 4 bolts holding it in. just follow the coil packs to the front of the motor and thats the piece,
then i have a question on the bung right above oil flter braket unit, where the tube that bolts onto that goes, ill have to get pics for that one.
thanksmatt
It provides a home for the screws that secures your lower timing belt cover.sdtouge wrote:i was checkin it out and for me to use that thing, i would need to remove the itming belt, and i most defninatly dont want to do that. it doesnt seem to do anything importnat, but then again i dont think it would be there for no reason. think ill be ok if i leave it out?
