Hello to everyone on Nicoclub

Having all these problems with HID's and installing them after so much trial and error, take off the bumper, put on the bumper, take off the bumper, back and forth, i wanna know some more reasons why hids flicker. i only know some reasons why the bulbs get that bad flicker:

1. Bad Bulbs or Ballasts due to cheap eBay kits
2. Maybe not enough current (using a relay might or might not help)
3. Bad wiring and connection
4. Vibration maybe of the bumper when the car is on (idk bout this one really lol, but its makes the light shake?)

So far i only have these four reasons, but for those of you guys willing to reply to my post, and who have experienced the HID flicker, please comment my topic so i can actually learn why so maybe it could help others and noobs like myself

Thanks ;)

If I leave my headlights to the auto function sometimes my driver side headlight won't come on when I start my car. So I leave the headlights on the off position and then once the car is running I'll turn them on and they seem to come up fine. I'm wondering if this means my battery is going out. I need to pick up an optima and see if that fixes it.

yep i have had many problems with hid kits from ebay
i recently bought a kit from ddmtuning
i learned my lesson with ebay
it could be ur battery or maybe it could be the kit itself bro
so idk, i just wanna know some other reasons why the kits flicker
i know it could be a really stupid question
but if its any place for some good answers it will be on Nico

I ordered them on January 1st and I got the e-mail saying they shipped on January 3rd. (luckily I keep my e-mails haha). I guess if you ordered on a Friday or on a weekend it may take a little longer. I'm sure they'll be in contact soon. Probably today or tomorrow at the latest.

So you got a DDM kit and its flickering, or you have an eBay kit and its flickering? I had two different DDM kits back when I had my Civic and Integra, but they worked flawlessly.

don't get me wrong, i love ddm tuning kits, i have a set myself, bought them almost 3 years ago with no issues or problems, i hope this all isn't true.

after buying and selling a couple of kits myself, i have been told that you are not supposed to have your lights on AUTO mode, turn them on and off rapidly, or have them on while the car is off. on my previous car i would leave my HID's on while the car was off, AND it had DRL, and i went through a couple of kits. I installed a kit on my dad's truck and on a friend of mines(neither had AUTO/DRL lights) and i specifically told them not to run the lights while the truck was off....they didnt listen and had problems. I learned my lesson and always turn on my HID'S AFTER staring the car and turn them of BEFORE shutting off the car....I havent had any problems and it's been a year.....just an idea...try it out

yeh sc20 ur absolutely right
i've been given the same advice, and i never turn the lights on with the car off or leave it on when the car is off
i never have done that with the coupe. its just the lights still flicker with the ebay kits
even on auto, i really only use my auto function when its dark enough for the sensor to turn on the lights
because flicking them to auto then to on does turn it off once to get to the on
so i just leave it on auto and let them warm up
basically i do follow the rules to prevent my lights from suffering any problems, but i have flickering when i ordered kits off of ebay for my fogs
i bought a kit from amazon for the headlights and it not once has flickered on me
appreciate the help tho thanks

I leave mine on auto all the time, 1 set of hid's going strong after 3 years. i don't flick them on and off or anything, but the auto function hasn't been an issue even though the headlights stay on for 30 secs after the car is turned off

yeh mobile i do the same as well, i leave it on auto i always have since i bought the coupe
my headlights are perfect never any problems with them, and i bought it on amazon it was a Zenex kit
i paid like 65 bucks for it
i figured the ebay kits would work fine for the fogs, but 3 kits later from ebay, they all flickered
so did a little reading on nico and everyone said ddmtuning kits and the price is not so bad
so fingers crossed waiting to see if they will do the job
