So, you like the LX better but the QX was cheaper? You lost me...

The LX in our garage is exceptionally refined. There's ample power for passing and driving around town, handling is a bit uneasy but still comfortable. The ride is superb and the interior quality is stunning. But its a snore.

Yeah, they are deceptive in the pictures above. The actual vehicle is huge!

It's funny that Lexus doesn't tell you the LX sitting on two solid axles, not independent all the way around like the QX56/Armada.

I am sorry for the confusion. I was comparing the LX as a step below the QX56 but I guess I wasn't clear. The LX, as you know is a Luxury 4runner. The one I had a deposit on was $48,500 and the only option it had was the 3rd row seat and rear air. If I would have purchased one with all the standard equipment that the QX56 had on it, which starts out at $50,500, the LX would have been way higher then the QX. It still wouldn't have had the 5.6 liter. The 4.7 liter in the LX is a good engine but a dog as far as towing and passing power. Also I know there have been a few issues on the QX front brakes and the head liner, but I was following the LX forum for awhile and the owners of the LX, had problems with a vibration at 60-70 mph. The problem is a bad drive shaft. Lexus finally admitted it but there on back order. I guess as long as autos are made by man you can't expect anything, no matter how much you pay, to be with out potential problems.

OH, THE GX! Sheesh, that thing is ugly. :)

Okay now it all makes sense.

I was confused because after taxes and such the parentals paid 75k for the LX. The third row on the LX is a joke. I've been crammed back there more than a few times. :( If I dont get a middle seat on family outings, I prefer to follow in the Q.

Everybody driving those huge things around doesn't help the gasoline supply/demand ratio. Not very often do I see more than 2 people in them -mostly one. I'm subsidizing your artificially induced demand curve. One of the reasons gas prices are up.Giving the environazis more ammunition; just because of a faulty perception of "safety" or the lemming like "everybody has one" or the best one "it has four wheel drive", I haven't seen one off road yet, unless maybe some kid joy rides through a corn field. Glad to see sales of these things down overall. Nothing personal guys just a rant.

I understand your feelings. In my case, if you were to see where I live, you wouldn't blame me for having it. 1. I am not apologizing for where I live, I wouldn't live anyplace else. Yes I have lived other places,, however, my driveway goes up at a 35 degree angle, since I choose to live here year around versus just in the summer, I have to have a 4 wheel drive of one kind or another. 2. The area I live in is a tourist trap. I make a trip once a month to either Thunder Bay, Ont or Duluth, Mn which are both around 100 miles. When I make that once a month trip, I load down with supplies to last my wife and I a month so another type of vehicle just wouldn't cut the mustard. I do agree with you most people driving one wouldn't need to be.

We live in the 'burbs with well-maintained straight roads. We never go off road or tow boats, but we always have people, suitcases full of files, dry cleaning, baby seats, and other things to carry (sometimes all at once). AWD minivans make sense for our family (nasty midwest winters) but seriously lack the power and refinement of a luxury SUV.

There's always the obnoxious wanna-be pimps with gas-guzzling full-size Cadillacs (whether its a sedan or truck), but the LX gives us what we need and want that we aren't getting out of other vehicles.

Otherwise without babies, work that has to come home, visitors from out of town, and other day to day space-occupying burdens, my parents would be driving sedans (like me).

Of all the vehicles in the house, my Q guzzles the most fuel. :)

You may note in my sig that I own a Jeep cherokee, since I also live on a 1/4 mile driveway, off a mile long dead end road (I have a plow), and it is great for moving heavy bulky items (utility). It is also interesting to hear people at the gas station complain about the price of gas when: 1) they are alone 2) have just filled up 3) the pickup/SUV with the biggest engine/ tank combo available. If there is a legitimate use by all means thats understood. However most reasons I've heard are as above (4WD, safe, the Jones's -I'll add one now "becasuse I can").I mention the above so I don't appear as a hypocrite (Jeep).Unfair advantage: I also work from home.

LOL! I would love to own the new H2, H3, Escalade EXT, Yukon Denali, or QX56 but...

1) No way in hell I could buy one.2) Too much gas.

Now keep in mind even if I had the $$$, I wouldnt drive it every day. Maybe 2-3 days of the week. When I go out with the boys.

PS: Im a sucker for chromies on those trucks. 22s for all the above.
