Whats the quietest exhaust out there. Has to be a major company, not a muffler-shop special. Something under 90db's. Thanx

well it depends man if you not looking for the "best performance" exhaust, which you will not get w/ the quietest exaust then look at the hks sport exhaust or the apex'i world sport exhaust.

I think my exhaust is pretty quiet...from idle to 3k you can barely hear it...past 3k, esp past 4k, it really starts opening up, but regular driving from idle to 3k it's pretty quiet. The exhaust is excellently constructed and made by Tanabe, it's the Super-Medallion hyper-spec exhaust (ricey name, NOT ricey performance...)

i would have to say that greddy's power extreme exhaust 60mm-70mm piping size is really quiet. I have not heard anything quieter than the Greddy PE exhaust except for the stock system of course.i had the greddy PE on my car but recently sold it.I now have the APEXI N1 3" catback and have cut out the resonator and welded in 3" pipe in place. Damn it sounds good!

Personally, from what i have heard and seen. If you want the quietest sound and he most HP gain you should leave the stock muffler(assuming it is in good condition), cut out the resognator(is that spelled right?), get a high flow cat, and a header, you can a little bigger pipe if you wish. This keeps it nice and quiet at idle and a really nice sound when you open it up. I have heard that you get the most gains by doing it this way. I am going to try it here in a week or two, i'll follow up on how it goes.

I use a Borla muffler called the "blow torch" I know it's cheezy but it sounds bad ***!

2 1/4 in. inlet, 4 in. side round tip, 14 in. x 5 1/2 in. x 8 1/2 in. case size, stainless steel, Boomer Blow Torch, muffler

Made for high performance imports, this new Borla Boomer Blowtorch muffler is tuned to sync perfectly with your engine, increasing exhaust flow velocity, and boosting horsepower. This is a full blown, high-tech, dyno and race proven universal muffler for the street or track. It's made of aircraft quality T-304 stainless steel, so corrosive gases, moistures, salt, dirt and toxic material won't eat your muffler, or your horsepower. It comes fully polished with a mirror like shine, and like all Borla street exhausts, this is backed by Borla's famous Million Mile warranty. BLA BLA BLA!

My friend has a GReddy Evo on his turbo civic. under 3500 you can barely hear it because it has a really low tone. it sounds nice and deep when stomp on it though. Personally im a fan of the N1 sound, thats what he had before the evo, but if youre going for subtle I think the GReddy Evo would be a good choice

It was a joke! That’s why I posted it. I bought the muffler for 210 shipped that’s why I have it. I don’t think Borla even makes the Boomer series anymore. When I talked to Borla about warranting my muffler a guy told me they could not sell these mufflers. No one would buy them at that crazy cost and he said Borla spends a fair about of money to make the mufflers so they were going to get rid of them. The muffler is made real well and ill never buy another! And yes it really does make nice HP.

:D it's cool man. I like my muffler because no one else uses it and the tone sounds so sweet! Borla is Cheesy I know, but they still make damn good exhaust systems. My friend uses the Borla system on his 300zx TT along with test pipes man that system makes nice power!

I think the Greddy SP catback is really quiet. I havn't heard it on a 240 though, i've only heard it on a twin turbo rx7. It wassn't loud at all, looked good and had a nice sporty tune to it.

why do you say borla is cheesy? I've never heard anything bad about borla before, only good. My personal preference would be to go with the HKS Sport though. Stock look, increase hp, not too loud and ricey = sleeper!

I say Borla is cheesey because of what they say in their adds.Dont get me wrong I love Borla and I am real happy with my "Blow torch" muffler and im very happy with the million mile warrenty, but what they write about the mufflers is cheesey.

I thought that as far as sound goes the Greddy had the best gear. I put one on my 90' had great wide open sound, but quiet when you drive like normal people do. but that was before all the new marketing names for their mufflers. Back then they only had two kinds; for boosted, not for boosted. Hey but what do I know, my current car still has a factory warranty piece of crap, quiet all the time, and never ever roars. If I could find something that looked stock and perfomed liked a Greddy for like $350 or less i'd buy one in a heartbeat

it was already mentioned by MarkEmark but. . .

the Tanabe exhaust system I have on my car is envied by most of my friends who are driving various other imports because it's so quiet. I can drive by cops without them turning their heads when i want to (definitely good in california). But it sounds amazing when u drop the hammer! Nice and deep without that *BRAAAAAAP* sound i've heard from other exhausts. the finish and workmanship are top-notch too. . . wouldn't trade mine for anything else. . .

Hey, do you have any pics of it installed on your car? I'm thinking about getting that exhaust and wanted to see how it looks on the car.

sorry no pics but it looks stock but a tad more aggressive with the tips. I am going to sell my Borla on my Z and get the hks sport. It is a quality product. Nice polished tips on the hks.
