My car has been in storage for last 2 years and I recently got it registered to be on the road again. I ordered some OEM parts from one of the sponsors and noticed that the 240sx and 300zx filters were the same price now. I guess Nissan or the dealerships were seeing that people were ordering the 300zx filter instead of the 240sx one.

Its a larger filter that is capible of higher flow rates and is less likely to clog. Whats not to like? It may not be necessary, but it is better.
