Went down to St Louis saturday, looked at a few rbs, and came home with a series 2 rb25. Supposedly has somewhere around 82k kms. It was my birthday present to myself!!! hah. Compliments jdmhookup.com

Its actually going to be a winter build, try to take my time and not worry about rushing anything. Its eventually going into my 92 vert, which currently has an auto. So I will definately be having some fun with this. I also am going to use the 91 q45 rear end that I have, see how that works.

I am so pumped! Like I said, it is going to be my winter project, so I will keep you guys posted as to how it all goes.

Looks like you got a super clean setup. I have a winter RB project as well. Gotta have something to keep you going through the winter months haha. Keep us updated!

Definately not a fan of the cold, so the garage time will come in handy!! haha.

Where would some of us be without winter excitement!

Looks good. Not sure if you will like the q45 rear though. IIRC its 3.54:1 and you will also need specific axles and Q45/Z32 hubs.

It will take quite a bit of power to make that ratio be truly useful.

I think I saw somewhere that it takes something like 450+hp in order to start seeing some of its use? Used mainly for higher hp and high trap speeds IIRC. Im going to mess around with the rear end setup come spring time, I just don't see too many going the route of the q45 rear...

Yea there really is no cut and dry line in terms of when it is beneficial. It really just depends on the driver, the car, and the type of driving/racing you are doing. In my case I make more than 450 and I think it would likely slow me down in just about all situations except for extremely tight circuit coarses where I would never need to go to 3rd.

Also remember if you are reading about people with LS1s and T-56 6 speeds wanting the lower gear that is MUCH different than our 5-speed RB setup. They have lots more low end torque and their transmissions are designed for a low final drive out-of-the-box. So the LSx swapped 240s will see a benefit much earlier than an RB powered one.

When you do swap to it let us know what you think... I am actually kind of curious myself.
