Well I thought I would go wash the SUV the lazy way by going to the local automatic car wash and getting it sprayed off but by the end of it all I will be paying over $300 CDN too get it repaired by the body shop or buying another fender flare from nissan witch comes already painted I went to a few bodyshops to get quotes and all where around the same price..So after it was all said and done the store I went too said there not responsible for any damage that occurs -Enter at own risk- is what the sign says and manger also.

Ok, but you're focusing on the negative..look at how clean that black plastic is where there used to be dirty, dirty paint! I mean...that s*** is SHINY! But, no, seriously, that sucks. I only handwash my rig for a reason.

Are your tires on backwards? It looks like they're meant to rotate the other way.

The same thing happened to my Pathy, at a car wash where you take the pressure washer and walk around. Took off a nice piece of paint from the bumper. It wasn't too hard to touch up with a can of $10 plastic primer and $20 touch-up paint. Although admittedly, your job looks a bit bigger than mine was.

Did you ever have that Flare painted before the wash?

My bumper flaked like that but it was because of a poor prep job before the painter painted it.

@SixGuns Yeah I try too keep her as clean as possible even if it take`s a full sunday of detail

@Densetsu I took a closer look at them and the pass side are like that and the other 2 on the drivers side are going as forward So idk lol I would agree with you , wishing mine was minor like yours was, and I learned my lesson thats for sure..

@slickroger I don`t know if it was painted before I bought it because i got it used, but I know for a fact that it was well taken care of by the time it got too me, but I was talking to a body shop guy and he said that with the plastic in the flare has a oil in it and if not prep right that`s what happends..

Ouch, that sucks! I'm guessing this was one of those touchless car washes that uses high-pressure sprayers instead of brushes? The paint on the flares does come off fairly easily, mine is chipping off on the under side of the flare that faces the wheel, once a little comes off it all comes off really easily. I started avoiding automatic car washes since one started stripping clear coat off my front bumper from a crappy paint job from a past collision repair.

like ive said to pwnin before, try and find a technical school in your area that does body work, i go to a tech school for half day and the auto body shop there is top of the line and they work on cars like an actual shop, the work is just like a top body shop, and you dont pay for labor, all you pay for is the paint and stuff for them.

im getting a bunch of stuff done on my pathy like hood, front bumper, color match handles and side mirrors. and its gonna cost me 150-200 and theres alot more painting then is needed for that little fender flare. in my tech school they'd probably charge like 30$ for that.

im just trying to give you a heads up to save some cash. if your out of luck and cant find one i guess you have to get it done by a body shop then.

@Pwnin O'Brien yeah that`s exactly what it was, the spray ones without the brush. and I have also noticed the peeling your talking about on the underside the flare on (2) but I think it`s more towards the fact that i have sum what aggressive tires and that will do it too..

@fueler yeah I thought so too, but has it paint is paint! some quality and some garbage and no I didn't have it painted before..

@Innovazn Lol! I Agree

@miamiheat3332 thanks for the idea witch doesn't sound bad at all I will have too look into it, Witch would be a HUGE $ saver..Looking forward too seeing what you have planned AND when it`s done!

PS. I appreciate all the response from the forum.

that sucks. Most businesses have signs up to protect themselves. Do you know how many people would claim damage to a vehicle if they didn't.

Your truck has some character now.

It looks like there isn't any primer on that flare, just paint. Can you see any primer?

I'm not sure what Nissan does when they paint plastic, but generally, plastic is sprayed with an adhesion/primer first, then paint. Not only that, but the it all needs to have some flex agent in it so the paint can move with the plastic as it flexs to prevent cracking.

What would remving all the paint look like...probably just a black flare. I'd say rock black flares, but you have an LE and that doesn't really fit the motif of an LE.

Are you going to drop the $300 on a new flare or just leave it as is?

Also paintscratch.com sells OE paint in a can for about $20 each...def a lot cheaper than $300.
