The ever so nice, circa 1990 Prime monoblock wheel. I remember seeing these on everything from Pontiac Fiero's to Buick Regals

My younger brother had a set on his early 80's 200SX hatchback.

I used to sell the crap out of those while I was a tire store manager back then. They were the shizzle .

Just think you could have had a whole set of those for less than one of these later knock-offs!!

I guess if you're old enough to remember these wheels, you'd never go for the new versions. Yes, the new versions are pretty cool, much, much higher quality, but the memory of the PRIME wheels kills it for me.

I was guilty for having them. My crew used to call the style, "Hammers". I had these Cragar "Hammers" on my 1984 Honda Accord, that was dropped and had a serious system. I thought I was the shiz**. My main competition were the people with 5-star rims. This was back when huge wheels were considered to be 17 inches. Oh, to be 16 years old again. Thanks Falk for bringing up good ole' memories!-EQwhipD

After some thinking, weren't the original AMG "Hammer" wheels the first ones?

Just wondering out loud.

Indeed they were, but the PRIME's were the first common aftermarket version that I can recall.
