NICO is home for me now. I don't want to speak for anyone else, but my personal opinion is this:

The .org will always remain a great source for Maxima info. I will always be thankful that I have met some terrific people, and formed some great friendships because of the .org.

BUT, NICO is a TRUE community, all makes/models owners post here. Everyone is welcome, and not flamed from the get-go. The site is professionally run...the owner doesn't take a 6 month hiatus; his love and passion for this site are equal-to and above most everyone here. He is active on the boards, but he and the mods here don't act like a fascists. I also like NICO because, as a fan of Nissan product, I like being able to search for ideas and questions that I have looking at potential future projects...without having to pay$.

I have to say that there is a lot of good info here, better comradere (spelling?), and cooler people.

However, all of the How-tos and classifieds over there are invaluable to maxima owners, plus the regional forums are pretty cool.

The ONLY thing that gets me here are a few post whores who really do nothing. I mean, I make gratuitous posts here and there, but there are some who are really bad about it. They are not A-holes or anything, they just post whore, and then I don't know if my notification is for a +1-type post, or really helping out/answering.

I wish that this forum had the option to subscribe to threads w/o email notification...and I like the preview thread option on the org.

With the number of people ticked off at the .org, a lot want an alternative. No, we don't have as much info here, but we are just now building a owner base. If anyone has writeup information that could be helpful to the community, it should be posted in the how-to thread. It will grow and I hope this site will eventually have some great stuff available.

Heck, 1/2 the links in the .orgy hot-to's (at least the 5th gen side) are dead links anyway. Obviously it is not worth their time to make sure the information they post is valid or not.

I have a few write-ups on the org, and now that it is back up I will copy them to over here.

On a side note, I became an org Moderator while it was down..

NICO is a Nissan/Infiniti site and therefore will not have as much detailed information as any car specific site. However we can get close. The Maxima mods (and all other Mods/Admins) can make sure any valid information can get into a FAQ or DIY format. Please bring as much information about the Maxima that other members can use.As it has been stated the members here make it so much better than other sites.Going to the NICO meets will demonstrate that first hand.

BTW:I'm not a .org hater just a NICO lover.;)

I'm not an .org hater either I was just making a joke of it because it's constantly down. It's a great place to get info. about your Max probably one of the best but it does not have the almost family like atmosphere that is present here on NICO.:)

off-topic has a family atmosphere to it over at the org....more like a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic father and a prostitute mother, but it is a family atmosphere. Seriously, I love off-topic over at the org and all the wackos that reside there. I have noticed MANY iprovements since the last down-time and clean-up. Congrats again on the new mod' status phenny!

I30/I35, test posts, and I am now officially bestowed with banning powers as a part of my role as sig moderator. Well, I WAS just sig police (I could change the unlawful sigs, but not ban people if they changed it back the the bad sig). Now I am the official sig moderator. Kirk (Bags aka Bags 353) is as well.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish the owners of the .org would consider allowing us to buy the domain and make the .org a portal to NICO's Maxima forums... Much like we did with 240sx.org....

Unlimited space, plenty of room for growth, full credit to the founders, no more hassles for them, no more bleeding money every month for bandwidth and hosting, and a HUGE support network to transfer articles and threads...

We have 99.8% uptime since Feb 2004 (unheard of for a forum this size).

Maybe you guys can team up and work on them to consider this... It would be an absolute honor to merge with them. I'd give them some VERY broad latitude in running the show if they wanted.

I'm always available, and you can email me for my phone #.

Well, there is a new owner over there. He may be a bit more open to the idea of selling the org to you guys. When it is back up, you might try to open a dialogue with him. I can get you his contact info. He is a lot more hands-on that the old ownership, and I know that this downtime was a planned maintainence to fix all of the bugs that had worked their way in while it was not attended to properly over the last 8-9 months. I also know what prompted the neglect, but that is not the point.

I would love to see the two sites merge, BUT if the new ownership can get the ship afloat again, I am just as well either way.

Thanks much - Can you guys start "working" on the new owner?

I really feel strongly about bringing these people and resources together.

I promise it'll be worth the effort. :)
