I need suggestions for when we should roll out on Saturday. Here's what I have in mind.
Those rolling out of Jersey, New York, Bucks, & Philadelphia counties I was thinking we could meet up at Franklin Mills mall on Saturday Morning May 5 around 8am (this is going to be a 4 hour drive down the turnpike) Security will have no reason to run us out, I'm thinking we meet up at the Wal-Mart parking lot, from there we will decide on the route to get to the turnpike.
everyone else will meet us up at the KOP mall around 9-9:30. KOP will be the official food, drink, and gas stop. From there with everyone in tow we will get on the Turnpike and run it the whole way to Carlisle. Anyone who doesn't make it to the KOP Mall by 10AM will be left. I want to get to Carlisle by 1PM at the latest, but at the same time I don't want the drive there to be a speedfest. If you have one of those 2 way walkie's (they cost no more than $40 you should get one if you dont have one) bring it, the channels will be discussed at each meet point so we can keep this organized and trouble free.
Since this promises to be a large convoy there will be a need to the lead and rear cars to have walkies to keep control of the pack. Rules will be discussed at each meet point as well. I don't want this to be a showboat event as I want everyone to get there safe and sound and ticket free, so if you break away from the crowd you're on your own until we catch up with you.
Cell numbers will be shared at each meet point so that if anyone does get in trouble or there are mechanical issues en route help can be called up. Since it's the turnpike be aware that 5-0 will be roll en force and the PA state troopers that patrol the turnpike have some very ingenious hiding spots. It's the first of the month so they will be hungry for quota's not to mention Saturday is Cinco De Mayo so be aware that they will be hunting for DUI's by the time we get there.
If anyone wants to get in contact with me about this please feel free to drop me an email (
[email protected]) or better still call my cell (302)-668-4108. I haven't been keeping up to date with this but by this weekend I should have a mass email going out to everyone who has chimed in from all the threads to make sure that everything goes smoothly and everyone knows their routes and meet points.
