In 6 days, a 2hr long series finale will air on NBC, bring to an end, one of six successful shows that I watched fairly consistently from start to finish.

My first show was Seinfeld that i saw quite a few episodes, but I was still a bit young for it when it came out. When I watched the series finale, I was sorely let down.

Then, there was Star Trek, the Next Generation. And I saw the movies! Enough said.

The next show was Friends. I think I saw every episode, but might have missed a few. Admittedly, I can't remember how that show ends.

Then Stargate SG-1. Fantastic show, but once they beat the gaould (however it's spelled) it went down hill. To be honest, I lost interest with 3-4 episodes left (fighting the ori) and stopped watching.

Then there was Fringe. I saw every episode and even followed some of the intricate details on the Fringe forum. That show started going down hill after season 3.

And now The Office. I have seen EVERY episode and am actually sad this show is ending. With most big shows, they normally go downhill towards the end and this one is no exception. However, the amount it went down is minimal in comparison to the others. Ending it now is a good idea to keep folks from having a bad taste in their mouth upon hearing the name, when they could easily drag it out to make a few bucks, and suck so bad that everyone loathes the name. If you don't understand what I'm saying, here I'll demonstrate, "Madonna". See?

Who else watches this show?

The last 3-4 episodes almost made up for the last two seasons of garbage. 9 seasons is plenty for $yndication and DVD sales, so they could have really stopped when Carrell left.

That said, I am also sad to see it end.

The one-season return of Arrested Development will make up for the loss. Otherwise, that closes out the last of my favorite shows from the turn of the century.

As Jesda said, the last few episodes have made up for the failures over the past couple of seasons for me. I am genuinely sad to see the show go and it's going to be hard to watch the last episode. That being said, it's ending in a good place and i'm glad they made it feel important enough again, instead of making everyone beg for it just to be over.

Parks and Recreation has been renewed for another season though and that combined with Arrested Development will keep me happy for a while.

I'm also curious to see what happens with Arrested Development. It's already gotten more episodes than originally planned, so I hope all of them knock it out of the park. Maybe we'll get a little extra if they do.

Sadly, I quit watching The Office this season. I might watch the finale and the last few episodes on my DVR just to catch up on it. I would've been good if they ended it with Carrell left the show.
Fringe was a pretty good show, I enjoyed that all around. Great acting, good plot.

I thought the plot was going everywhere but in one direction. Things they brought up in seasons 1 and 2, never materialized into anything. Instead they started going some alternate universe direction where Leonard Nemoy was making a new universe between the two and then the observers later took over the world, I mean WTF!?

Very true. I gave up on watching the office a few years ago but the last 6 episodes were very funny. Dwight riding a bike on a tightrope and horribly failing was epic.

I agree with you, but I think that happened because the show was in danger of being canceled after those two seasons. Unsure why, it seemed pretty damned entertaining to me. Anyway, there is a clear jump from the original plot line to the 'new' plot line that is loosely explained and recapped in a short "heres what you missed" style prologue before the war episodes started. IMO, the producers and writers probably didn't want to have the show fail on an unfinished note and when given a timeline had to try and wrap it up as eloquently as possible. It was still a great show. The guy who played Walter is a fantastic actor.

Hey Looney, you ever watch Stargate Atlantis? Not as good as SG1, but pretty decent none the less.

I was unaware of the show possibly being canceled after season 2. I would'a been more mad to hear the happened then when they cancelled Firefly after one season.

I watched some of it, but I didn't really get into it. I just didn't have the time available to watch all those shows. Most of the time I had them on in the background while playing with the kids or cleaning house.

SGA was one of those shows where you needed to watch all of the episodes from start/finish to really appreciate it. I watched them on Netflix/Hulu, same with 24.

I finally watched Firefly in its entirety. It was a pretty good show. The movie to help tie the end of the series together, Serenity, was pretty damned good, too. Lots of action and some very good special effects that weren't as strong in the series. Unsure why everyone raved about Summer Glau in that show though. She was a minor character at best. Now, that Kaylee chick... :naughty:

This might make me sound like a pu$$y but I have an emotional attachment to this show. Pam and Jim are just like my wife and I and thats why we like it so much. It was also an emotional roller coaster when That 70s Show ended. I miss that show. :inoutgay:

Pam has turned into a terrible character. Whiny, selfish, and unfunny. It's like the writers were like "HEY! LET'S MAKE HER A C-WORD!"

To be fair, she wasn't that great to begin with. She would have ended up with Roy because she's a dumb wuss.

And had she ended up with Roy, she would have had a nice house! I forget the details about that episode, but what did Roy do that netted him all that money?

As for Pam and Jim, she should have been happy for Jim getting his dream job and moved away from Scranton to be a stay at home mom, or get a part-time job in Philly where Jim's better job was located. But noo, she was too needy and selfish.

Glad to see Dwight and Angela together. They were made for each other.

I wonder how many people will tune in and if it'll beat Friends or Seinfeld.

And that's the last we'll see of 1725 Slough Avenue.

The show deserves credit for rejuvenating Scranton's tourist industry. Between food, gas, and the NBC store at the Steamtown Mall, I spent hundreds in that town in 2010.

I still use my "World's Best Boss" mug for tea. Like Michael Scott, I bought it as a form of self-congratulation rather than receiving it as a gift from anyone who has ever worked for me. My collection of bobbleheads and other Office souvenirs are on a bookshelf in my living room.

That's also the trip where I finally met Joel.

I don't expect huge ratings. Friends and Seinfeld were singular, cultural phenomena that predated individualistic distractions like social networking. The Office was instead built on a niche of dedicated fans.
