I was keen at trying to get hold of a vk56 since more cubes = more power and torque if all else is equal, however after reading quite an in-depth writeup on the head design it really put me off. It appears the top half was designed with torque in mind. The head/ports reflected this from memory. Wasnt the end of the world as I had already made the inlet and worked my 45 heads. I will try and dig up that 56 writeup.I am still a bit keen to get a 56 crank to attempt to fit to my 45, however the rods may be too short, especially as i'm blowing it. Still if anyone has one lying around..

great article. i had no idea the president VH45 didnt have VVT, are you sure thats correct, because im 95% sure we get engines for Q45s all the time that come from presidents.... also didnt realize the early VH41s had higher compression, again very interesting and makes sense since they never brought them over to the US to get awful gas.

also had no idea they offered a direct injection version of the VK, very interesting.

IF there was active cam gears on the titan that thing would have killer torque stock.

"The VH45DE has a huge amount of tuning potential and a bare engine (minus ECU and loom) can be picked up at the wreckers for under AUD$2000 – a complete package ranges between about AUD$2500 – AUD$3000."

Rubbish. I got mine for $1800 from a very reputable supplier in NSW with all electrics and auto.

I got my FGY32 Cima front halfcut for NZ$800. IIRC the NZ$ is around 76c to the US$, which makes it US$608.

Thanks for commenting ELWESSO. After perusing through the forum, I widened the search. Other technical information is in Japanese, but the abstracts seem to lend validity to the article.

Other web sites appear to confirm the Direct Injection of the VK, in Asian markets at least.

Direct injection is cool but VVEL gives me a boner.

Good article. I spent an afternoon reading thru Autospeed's tech articles. Plenty of good ideas, but some of their facts were wrong.
