I am a member (ERicincal) of the NICO page here and I read the article located at: http://www.nissaninfiniticlub.net/regis ... kyline.htm

I just wanted to respond to it. Now, I know we are all proud of the Nissan brand, but this article just sounds silly and uninformed and quite frankly makes those who own the Nissan cars look silly in the process. When the author discusses how great the Nissans are and how Honda will never come close to a skyline, he makes the Nissan group of people look really uninformed. I think the skyline is a great car. No doubt. But Honda has so much racing heritage and builds such great cars, to say that it has the "wrong genes" is just silly. How about its Formula One engines? or what about its GT500 NSXs? Those are SERIOUS Racing Genes!.... and just for fun, I have attached a drag racing file showing "what the wrong genes can do" . And remember, the "Wrong Gened car" is all motor and only 2 wheel driven and adheres to the gentlemans agreement of 280hp in Japan. Video here

Just a reminder, the skyline is in Japan to what a Mustang is here in the states. Yes it’s a great car, but it isn't the exotic he is making it out to be. Just because it isn't available here, doesn’t make it the super exotic he claims. I am proud of my Infiniti ( I have a Q45) and I am just as proud of my Honda ( I have an NSX) . I think that its great to be proud of the cars that we have, and the brands that we drive, but to post something so biased and un well written makes the entire community look bad. I don’t know why we, as a community would want to put down another automaker when discussing how good our cars are. Lets just talk about how great our cars are.. and leave it at that :)

I just wanted to give my 2 cents.

Well remember this is a Nissan/Infinti enthusiast board, so we tend to get excited about those products. The vast majority of members have also been excited about the article and car.I see little wrong with that. The Skyline is an internationally reowned name and I am as enthusiastic as the author to have that car here.

Fred,

Mind you, I have no problem with people being enthusiasts and excited about the products that their favorite car. I consider myself to be an enthusiast as well, I was simply saying that since NICO is a prepresentation of nissan and Infiniti owners, it might be a good idea to show a little class in how we discuss our automobiles.

Id just like to see this segment of the web portray ourself a bit differently than that of some redneck camaro chat kid who has to belittle the ford mustang make to make himself feel better about his cars capabilies.

What can I say, I would just hope that people see this community as a group of REAL enthusiasts who know facts about other cars as well as their own. Its one thing to state facts, but another to state ones opinions when those opinions are a bit ignorant of the truth.

why do I care? well in the end, I am associated with the nissan crowd since I own one, and if the public thinks of the nissan community as ignorant group, Im not as happy.. Just trying to keep our image up here :)

You are reading far too much into it Eric. The fact that you own an NSX clouds your judgment, and it's obvious to me, as it should be to everyone, that you feel challenged by the guys Skyline. Let your ego take a seat, and try to be happy that we have such an amazing car representing NICO.

An NSX is a very fine car indeed also.Perhaps we can arrange for a race? (not being facecious just think it would be fun).

no.. not at all challenged. You are missing my point. what I am was saying was that its ok to be enthusiastic about ones car. The skyline is a great car. I said that. What I was saying was that this person obviously was ignorant of Hondas if he says outwardly in a public arena that and I quote "Give me a break Honda boyz, your cars will never come close to a Skyline. " Obviously he doesnt understand Hondas and he makes himself and our Nissan Community seem ignorant. (remember, I said I own a nissan too)

Ego really has nothing to do with it If I wanted a skyline, I would have bought a skyline. If I wanted to race a skyline in a 1/4 mile, I could buy a $4000 mustang, stick a blower on it, and the skyline would see nothing but an ugly pony car butt, but what would that prove?

If you read again, I was saying I was hoping to interject a bit of class into the Nissan name, starting by the way we talk about our cars here. That was my point.

I couldn't possibly agree more.

And if I may interject, I would just like to say that the comment seems to be made in a lighthearted way, within the context of a lighthearted write up of the author's opinions.

Hmm...Ok, Eric. I don't know what you're really trying to say, but I think the Nissan community is doing fine without you adding "a little bit of class".

FYI - You need to know that Skyline is owned by the guy who started NICO. He also owns a Q45 that would put most of our cars to shame... He can pretty much write whatever the hell he wants.

I've seen races (road course and 1/4 mile) between an NSX and a Skyline. I'll leave it at that.

i can see where eric is coming from, but when SD wrote that article and said "honda boyz.....", well, when i here that i think of civic's w/ "skyline" conversions and "silvia" conversions. they are trying to make their honduh nice, by putting NISSAN parts on it. i have no respect for anyone who does that. they have a honda, keep honda parts on there. i have the upmost respect for NSX's, S2000's, even some some Civic's. i have never seen a riced out S2000's, just because i think the true car enthusiasts own them. but i think the majority of civic owners are not real car enthusiasts. they just want to try and look good for the chicas and what not. but when i see a civic done up right, w/ no stickers and all the rice assesories, i have respect for the car and owner of the car.

The point Eric was trying to make was that Speeddoctor's comments of the other makes, namely Honda, never being able to make something remotely close to a Skyline GTR was a bit..uhhh...outlandish. I tend to agree, the Skyline's an awesome car but that statement totally dismisses other great cars like the RX7, Supra and yes, Eric's NSX. You can't really compare the two as they are probably two very different driving experiences (wouldn't know about a Skyline). I've driven an NSX and sure it might not be the quickest drag-racing car there is, it's at home on the roadcourse. This car is THE best-handling car I've driven. Also THE best shifter I've encountered. Hearing that 8k redline right behind me was a very different, but very fun experience.

Also, comparing a US-spec NSX to a japan-only car is unfair. An NSX Type-S can do low 12's all day, stock Skylines high 12's. On a road-course, driver's being equal, the NSX should also take a stock Skyline.

Anyone catch the price difference betweeen the two cars?

Exactly... there is no way you can compare the two fairly

Im sure this Speedocter fellow was refering to the civics and accords and not to the NSX's out there...

Freak is probobly right. He was only dissin civics and accords. I admit there are some civics that look awesome if there not to riced out but an NSX is a sweet car. Theres no reasonable way to compare it to the GODLY SKYLINE.
