Some say the Z33 is the next S13.... Well IMO the G35 is.... in most searches the Z is holding its value very well, but some of the earlier model G coupes aren't so much + what better to match the 240 than the G..... after all it has a back seat!

G35 and Silvia are pretty close, except that the former weights exactly 1,000lb more and has 100 more HP. You can boost the crap out of SR20 to get 350HP but you can't lose 1,000lb off the V35/V36 easily.

The Z is more likely to fit that category, because it is sportier, and is used as a drift wagon by more top brands than a G35 is. It's all about advertising. There are many more companies who have been using the 350Z as a track car. Kids will see it, and want to replicate it.

Don't know what you're searching for, but in the Western Washington Auto Trader, the first 8 Z's come back between 16-19k.

The first 8 G's come in at 19-22k. Cheapest coupe I could find was 23k.

I was searching for 2003-2004 models.

When you take into account that most of the people who will be buying a car for "the ultimate drift machine" will be changing out the interior for something aftermarket (like Sparco seats and a Momo steering wheel) they will not want to pay the extra $$$ for leather, when it will just be gutted anyways.

Looking at your search on AutoTrader, there could be some money to be made from buying a car and shipping it here for sale. Only down side is that no one wants a car that has been on salted roads.

Yeah round here Z's are 15 - 17, and the G's are 19 - 21 (2003 - 2004 of both models). Sedans for sure are cheap for the 03's but jump up in price starting in 04, (03's are 11 - 13, and 04's are same as the Z's). The only Z holding its value well are the Verts. Also, everyone and their mother 'round here has a Z, and most because it's a mad tyte drift machine yo and saw it in FF3 drifting like whoa.

That being said, I think neither are the new 240, the G is a sports luxo car and the Z is an all out sports car....the 240 is a rwd econo box. But that's just my take

Remember, that in the 80's and 90's, the 240 was the closest thing to a sports car that Nissan made, aside of the 300zx, which was rediculously overpriced for it's time.

I give it 4 more years, until we start seeing more "average guy's Z's" being stripped down, and made into some pretty badass track cars. By then some of the 03 and 04's will have dropped low enough that you'll be able to have one at a fair price, with really high mileage. Would be perfect for a track build.

the 240SX was a hand me down car, the G35 might better fit the bill as a hand me down car, the Z is a seater and generally owned by men and not passed down as a family car

+1 evil.... and if the Z was the next 240, then why wouldn't people have bought up the Z31 & Z32 the way they buy the 240's.... because the 240 is what it is. Its so vulnerable, you can put anything in it, because so many people have = there is a crap load of parts for anything you want the 240 to be. The 240 will always be the 240, and the Z will remain a Z car forever, like the rest. But the G just doesn't have the heritage the Z does, there fore - the next 240 if any, AND............

G35 and Z33 has lots of common parts. G just being 200LB heavier and less aero underbody makes it less sporty.

No, it has WAY more history and heritage.

Remember, a G35 is only an Infiniti in a few countries. In most countries it is sold as a Nissan Skyline, which carries a lot of history and heritage. So saying that it doesn't have heritage... is well...

I'd rather give my son a 350 vs the G35.

yes, but a skyline thats out performed by a Z? is it really a skyline.... they just needed something to put the badges on while they worked up a new R.... LOL

somehow i knew you would pull the skyline card, and i knew someone would bring up the fact they share a lot of the same components....

OK so you guys got me, i just don't want people to think its really the next 240 and attract the "wrong" crowd...... nala nala nala

We both know that the G35 isn't a "real" Skyline. No turbo's = rippoff.

On that note...the 240 croud is full of people that could help out the 350Z guys if they moved up in platforms. Don't freak out...I know what you mean...the ricer children can stay in 240 Gen...I feel the same way. But the guys that have been tuning the 240SX could bring a wealth of knowledge with them. Many of us have been fabricating manifolds, tuning ecu's and experimenting with sizing turbo's for years now.

G35 is more of a Cefiro than Skyline and a 2+2 of a Z. All their parts are near identical.G35/G37 is nothing other than an upscale Z. They are also too large to be the next 240sx, since the Silvia/240SX has always been about being a smaller and lighter Z since its inception.

Well, remember that the R34, 33 etc, weren't these high horsepower monsters. The majority (I didn't say all) of Skylines that were sold were not the Skyline GTR. They weren't a racecar, or anything close to it. They were simply a sporty'ish commuter car. I could go into greater detail, but if you really care, go look up the Skyline's history.

Um, tell that to Nissan. They're the ones who sell the JDM Nissan Skyline as a USDM G35.

The Skyline did come in NA models, which are hands down suck...no question. But the R32, R33 and R34 also came in turbocharged versions without the GTR badge. They used the RB20DET and RB25DET...both excellent motors capable of putting down really good numbers.

The point is, referencing the G to the Skyline isn't on point when you're comparing a race cars lineage to the G's. You're biased to the extreme Noah, you own a G. I like both...a lot. But the 350 can be found cheaper in better shape then the comparable G35 and it's sportier, which appeals to me a tad more.

On track with the title of this thread...there is no "new 240SX". Light weight, easily modified and cheap. Something a Z and G are FAR from being close to. However, as people graduate they look at the next best thing available. If you're brand loyal it's simple math.

bacause you are a guy, the term "merthmobile" comes to mind, the G35 is far more likely to be a hand me down car than a Z,a nd yes the skyline goes back to 68 or so so yes it goes back further than Z, but the Z is the namplate that put Nissan/Datsun on the map in the US, also not a fair comparison as th "skyline" is a line of cars, the Z is only one car
