It's pretty pitiful when you have to reply to your own post...but.

Has anyone with the high shift tcu noticed you can't force 1st gear anymore? I just installed both tonight & noticed when I select 1, it shifts automatically into second when it feels like it, even with the selector still in 1st?

Lovin the ecu/tcu though. Went looking for trouble tonight, of course, found none. Almost went to the track but wanted some more :bshake time first.

Isn't the tri-mode version teh only one that can do this?

I asked many pointed, specific questions about the three different available programs, 1st gear hold wasn't one of them. That makes sense if you were using stock mode, or 1st start only mode (no high shift). I might have gone for tri mode if I'd known. This morning is the only day in several years we've had frost on the grass in the morning, I didn't see a need for 2nd start and I knew I could modulate shifts with the loud pedal, so I thought there was no need for regular program with 1st start. Oh well.

Oh yeah, shifts <are> crisper with this tcu. No offense to Ben @ JWT, but part of the program <must> increase the line pressure. The whole a$$ end of the car squats between 1st & 2nd, even with a light pedal.

Not nearly ready for that, 1qckser. I just left the switch & relay hardware coiled on the ecu for a later install. At minimum, I need to change plugs, check TPS voltage, CPS timing, install a trans cooler & get the diff done before hooking it up.

I need a spare intake manifold, if anyone has one. I want to Extrude Hone it & I'm going to attempt installing the NOS direct port distribution block in the area between the upper & lower intake manifold. That is, if I can regulate a 100shot down to 8 individual 12.5hp nozzles. Shouldn't be a problem.

More people would be running a <JWT> n2o program (50 or 100) if they understood how well engineered it is. I just don't like spraying it into the throttle body if I can help it. Too close & it favors one cylinder or bank more than the others.

Also, does anyone have a spare coil pack ignition-timing-check-thing they want to sell?

One more thing, a by-product benefit to the NOS program is that if you have someone riding your bumper, simply flip the switch on the ecu while driving & DON"T turn the bottle on. Then, punch it & watch a James Bond style plume of black smoke engulf their car. They'll be tasting 93 octane for miles & usually pull around you to get off at the next exit for a Coke.

I found this out by accident years ago, but almost peed my pants laughing at the reaction of the person behind me.
