Can anyone figure out what car this is? I saw it in person and took these pictures. I have many more, but I won't share them until someone gets the correct answer.

I'll give two hints:
1.) It's one of a kind and it's designer and builder is famous.
2.) It recently sold for $1.76M

It's Edsel Ford's 1934 Model 40 Special Speedster. It received a lotta press at Pebble Beach. What's my prize?

Damn you! No fair guessing it right on the first guess.. I have a mind to delete your post so other people can play.

You're prize will be.. more pictures.

I saw the car at the Detroit auto show (NAIAS). I have to say that it was the coolest car in the entire show. Just stunning!!!

I can't believe the guy (Edsel Ford) who designed this turd:

To be fair.. technically the designer of the car was E. T. Gregorie.
But he was working in conjuction with Edsel Ford and it was Ford who had the idea after visiting Europe in the 30's and seeing some of the early designer cars there.

It sure is pretty..

I thought Ford got the idea after seeing the more famous Duesenberg Mormon Meteor. A lot of similar styling cues.

and the rumors about the inspiration for the front end of the 1959 Edsel was the result of Mssr's Gregorie and Edsel's visits to a french brothel... :chuckle: .

pfff...still holds true.

look at the F458 and tell me it doesn't look like a woman on her knees and elbows slightly tilting her head up and opening her eyes with a lustful smile.

I don't know about you, but damn if those quarters don't look like round hips with athletic thighs attached.

Is that because many felt it resembled a woman's hoo-haa?
