I have actually filmed a couple of safety videos. My interest really started about 30 years ago at the power plant I worked at. During outages operators were often assigned to work in maintenance. A friend of mine and I were assigned to create 4 holes in a bottom ash hopper to install some nozzles. The air hammer we were using would put your hand asleep after about 10 minutes or so. We therefore needed to trade often. We put in a 2x12 about 1 foot off the bottom of the hopper.
The next day I was taking tube thinkness readings with a contractor. I was recording the readings called down to me. I stepped sideways to keep up with him. On one step there was an opening in the scaffold. I went 20 feet straight down landing on my back on top of the 2x12 I installed the day before. If that 2x12 had not been there I would have landed directly on my back inside a brick hopper which is about 4-5 foot wide at most. Probably would not have been a good outcome. I tended to look at things a little different at the work place after that.
