Notice that the new big supercharged 5.5 liter V8 [ 516 lb/ft] and twin turbo 5.6 V12 are all exceeding 493 HP and 590 lb/ft of torque................all for under $125,000.

Can you imagine a Q weight car with double the torque....4.5 secs 0-60.

If they can solve their quality control problems I'll sure give them a look. It would be nice to have a dealer in town vs 150 miles away too.

Don't count on it! For those interested check out the link below. Many experienced MBZ owners say that the previous crop of MBZ are of much better quality overall than the current ones. Link below discusses the S Class (W140 vs W220). I've read numerous threads on the E class as well (W124 vs W210) which lead me to buy my W124 400e. Dispite my complaints it is a quality piece of work.

Reading tkd_q45's link to the Mercedes should be mandatory for every (and every prospective) Q owner.

The stuff they put up with, and these are not even high mileage cars! If these failures happened on a Q, this forum would be deserted.

I wish someone would correct the observation that Q45s are just as expensive to maintain.

It is a long read, but you will get an accurate indication of what ownership of one of the last 3 S series entails. I have always been an admirer of these large cars, but now have zero desire to ever own one, even the V12.

This is a very erudite board by the way, and all issues are intelligently and rationally discussed; much like this one.
