What was Car and Driver thinking when they placed the new M3 above the GT R and the 911t? I used to like C&D too...

Not much to say that the Blog didn't cover. The M3 simply can't beat either car in any real world tests...so how does it rate a better slot then two super cars? Very easy...it doesn't.

I have always loved the M3, but it is outclassed and outperformed by the GTR and Porsche...period. The C&D writer should be fired...I dunno who even buys that rag of a magazine anymore. The results are always biased and the articles lack any type of creativity. Unless you like when someone regurgitates stats followed by an obviously biased opinion justified by pure ignorance.

WD[/quote]Well said! This is my firm beleif about these magazines. I only read them to be wowed by the pictures of the cars on their pages. I like to test things myself, and I like to check things out on my secret track.

C&D Suck... I would have been ok with The 911 winning... but not the BMW... But then again... IT didn't cuz Bmw's suck more than C&DDJ

My jaw about dropped when I read my magazine yesterday. I thought they would favor the m3 because all they do is drool over BMW but I thought that realistically there was no way they could give the win to the M3. Guess I was wrong.

Even when they tested the g and 335 earlier in the year and gave it to the g, they really didn't. They only gave it to the G because of "value".

They are tools.

OMG... after reading the link contents, I just had to read the C/D article.

Those guys have been DRINKING THE BONG WATER AGAIN!Lmao

But seriously, after reading the article [online] --- it really seems as though they are trying to make a point: compare apples to apples*

What I'm trying to get at is that the newest rave of talk re the GTR is how fast and devastating it is to all performance cars out there... and how it anialates all exotics - in the performance point - esp. considering its price. --- --- --- so what I think --- --- -- they are trying to say: stop comparing this Japanese "sport car" to the finely tuned euro CLASS "got-to-have-it" cars.

here's a little blurb from the C/D article :

"If you’re interested only in performance numbers, the GT-R proves to be a match for Ferrari’s finest, but comparing the two is like comparing Reno and Monte Carlo. Reno is relatively affordable fun that’s a little rough around the edges, but Monte Carlo is tuxedos and debonair refinement. To stretch this analogy further, the winner of this comparison test (which you’ve probably gathered is the M3) would be Las Vegas. Vegas versus Reno is a closer matchup, but where would you rather end up? Now ask yourself why.

"

THOSE PLUMBERS!L

They just can't stand Nissan - and how they've acheived what BMW should have done with their new M3.

The GTR stole all the M3's introduction thunder... and so it should.

...here's something that I'm sensing that C/D are trying to make a point of:You guys compare ferarris and lambos against this GTR...OK - We'll compare the lesser M3 to your GTR and justify the M3's win...

lolAs dumb as it may sound... I agree with the win for the M3 - according to their pretenses.

under these pretenses --- I'd like to compare the M3 to infiniti's M45... and say even though the M45 is slower on the track, 1/4mile times, blah blah blah, ...the M45 is soooooooo much more comfortable as an everyday driver, has 2 more doors, gets better fuel eco ---LMAO

c/d Do love BMW's... ... too bad BMW does not make anything that compares to the GTR - bottom line. So they fabricated this comparo to draw attention [agreed].L

Based upon the Top Gear episodes I've seen on YouTube, they're pretty American/Japanese-biased. When it comes to European cars, they're all over that. We all know that European cars epitomize precision, solidness and power, BUT, they never talk about the pros of other car company's strong points, it's always butchering and butchering. Of course, like any review, everyone's opinions are subjective.

im not talking about the show, im talking about the Mag. The Show is Jap/Euro biased, well, i wonder why. The only US offerings in that market are diesel versions of our worst cars. Eg. Chrysler Voyager( not T&C), Crossfire, Jeep Liberty CDi, Cadillac CTS (old shape), Hummer, Escalade. The only US car manufacturer that escapes that bias is Ford. That is because Ford UK has been independent of Ford US since the 1920s. Their products there are on the level of Honda in terms of quality and consistancy of design. The Ford Mondeo is one of the most highly acclaimed car by both the mags and the people. Ill be upset with the bias when we send them great cars and they still ignore them....

I've always liked the Mondeo. It's a nice car. Eh to Ford (US) and their line of vehicles.

I Like Road & Track. They give a lot of information to let the reader decide his #1.

It's with their article nov 2002, then I felt in love with G35 cpe
