Of a faulty fuel gauge! My gauge read between quarter and half full and the info button had me at 97 miles till empty...I read about fuel gauge issues on this forum before and I guess i'm the latest victim. Took her to the dealer this morning and they said it's the entire gauge cluster that needs to be replaced...is this the common cause of the problem?

Had mine replaced for free out of warranty last week. Seems to be working perfect now. I guess there is a fault in the gage cluster somewhere. Mention it to your dealer and that others have had theirs replaced out of warranty. It will run you a $600 job if they won't honor it. It's always good practice to reset your mileage on your trip meter when you fill up to monitor how far you have gone. I try not to rely on electronics.

I think the cluster is around $300 but if you have a warranty then let them do their jobs and fix it

Correct!

With labor and all it almost come out to $600. Take that sucker in and get it fixed.

It bothered me so bad to have know I had a 1/4 tank and the thing was registering 3/4. Almost got stranded between Telluride and Pagosa Springs C.O. not paying attention. Luckily I ran into a small gas station. Premium was $3.78 OUCH!

I just had the same problem with my M45. They did nothave to replace the whole cluster, it was just a fuel gauge switch / sensor of some sort, and a battery that was going bad. They replaced the switch and put in a new battery and it works fine now.
