The LS needs an upgrade

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Yeah so I ordered my waterpump and it came in today. I was checking this over on the car, and pulled her out and hmmm steam in the exhaust. Drained the oil, and it’s milky. So I pulled the leaky waterpump and no cracks on the block, and the coolant appeared to be oil free. So I also pulled the intake, rails well everything but the heads, looking for problems none found.

So as long as there are no cracks in the heads or block I am going to move forward with my top end rebuild. The engine itself was pulled with 46k and change so it’s not too bad off.

So beside the new waterpump and obvious gasket I am going to do a stage 2 port and polish on the heads (241, 243, or 317) hmmmm I think I'm going to use the 243 with the thunder racing special

- Dual Patriot Extreme Valve springs and Ti Retainers- Thunder Racing Pushrods (7.400)- Valve Stem Seals

And a CheaTR" - 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA Cam.

The only thing that sucks is that I have to postpone some of the other work.... body. Not a convenient time at all.

I also gotta send the ECM back out to turn off a few items, but I have 4 codes present, only one being real, and I cant quite figure it out. P0102 MAF Circuit Voltage Low. Iv tried the stock MAF and the brand new ported MAF. No change code wont clear.

I have a loss of voltage at the maff, so I gotta trace the wire back to the ECU and check. Prolly the fuse clearer by a short.

But I ordered some of my parts today tommorow moring the heads are coming off for a block inspection. Once the springs and associate parts come im sending the heads off to get checked and done.

So basically I am using the 241 head and save the 243's they have a lot of miles on them. I am having them milled with a port and polish, patriot racing extreme dual springs, seats, retainers, yada yada yada, and a change in valve angle per cam specs.

New OEM rocker armsNew OEM liftersPatriot racing hardened push rodsARP head bolts and studsOEM gasketsFast 90MM Intake with Ported LQ4 TBCheaTR" - 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA Cam.SLP timing chain and gear

and I will be upgrading to larger injector come tuning time and get some dyno numbers. Im contemplating a new torwue converter as well maybe a 3600-3800 stall.

So in my collection now I have a set a 243 and 317 cast heads, LS6 intake manifold, F body TB

Talking to myself here it seems... Kinda making this my blown headgasket thread.......

Anyhow after doing some homework on LS1tech.com and after about 40 PM's on there I found a semi-local shop who are the LS1 experts. I also sold a pair of 317 cast heads, and picked up a set of cnc ported LS6 243 heads with patriot dual springs. (local guy is donating them at 350 bucks).

So were deciding on how bof of a cam to go with, but with 42# injectors, professional tuning, the heads, and cam that we decide to go with (just figuring out what LSA to go with probably a 112. The shop said they could probably have my RWHP and torque up to over 450. Now the fuel pump and other items were allready in place.

The cost of parts and labor is going to cost me about 2500.

And I will be upgrading to a 3600 Stall soon
