Well, I figured this would be a good way to start my Personal Introduction and my build threads. This is the first car i have ever owned and the first car I have ever worked on. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since i was young i've always known cars is what I've wanted my life to revolve around, unfortunately for me, I've never had the opportunity, money, etc to make that happen. Couldn't get a job because i was always wrestling. My mom couldn't help because of bills. You get the idea. Last year that all change.

December-February
As a sophomore in UNI, I was an athlete along with being a student. I had obligations i had to commit to and I was not happy. A lot of things changed, I quit the team, and I lost a lot of "friends". My situation grants me aid through the school. I had money I had no use for at the time. No friends no bills; I decided to look for a car. I knew I wanted a 240 so I could began the process and be drifting soon; A hatch, with an SR and reliable. After about three months of searching, I set my on an S13 hatch. When I saw the craigslist add, it said something along the lines of: S13 hatch, with SR20DET motor, s15 turbo, needs minor work. I figured summer was coming up, i'd have enough time to play with it and figure what was wrong with it if it were more than something minor. But, he didn't list a price...

March 5, 2010
I e-mailed the owner about it and asked how much he wanted, when he told me the price I kind of got suspect. "who would sell a car with the parts he says it has in the condition it was in for that much?" i asked my self...I scheduled a time to come see the car with the owner.

March 7,2010
Then day came for me to drive down to Goldsboro to go see this 'beast' of a car. I didn't have a truck or a trailer so I rented one from U HAUL XD. when I got down there, i met with the owner, Zack. He popped the hood...

This is what I saw!:

I was speechless, I had never seen a real-life SR, and at that an S14 SR!

I was so speechless I had a hard time listening to him as he was telling about the car and everything done to it. He often had to repeat. Along with it came another set of tail lights,a book with everything the car had done to it, a turbo from a CA18 (I think, it was blown), and 3/4 of a 5 lug conversion. OH and a ricer wing! XD

After all this I signed the title and everything and trailered it back home where it sat like this until I came home the week for spring break.

There's a sub-forum here dedicated to SRs, so we could move this thread there if you like. (More likely to get technical responses you need.) Or if you leave it here you'll get more traffic with people saying "Keep up the good work." Up to you what you want. Just figured I'd throw this out there. If you don't mind saying, how much did you give for it? Also, Did you check the frame rails and inside the strut towers for rust? Welcome to NICO. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. Every bit of info you could ever need is on this board. Either in the form of already being posted, or someone with the knowledge as an active user.

Lol, I don't know if I have a preference. I guess whatever you think is best? I don't post much, I pretty much just lurk and search for stuff anyways...XD

Thank you for the welcome too!

The next week..

Spring break had come and I finally had time to crack down and find out where the leak was coming from...The turbo was in a tight spot so you couldn't really see exactly where the leak was coming from. I had no jack stands at this point, so the only other thing I could think of that would give me the visual access I needed was to take the turbo off! and that's what I did...

Yea, I didn't/do not have the proper 'training' to take off exhaust manifolds and stuff like that. My theory was: "it's just a few bolts and loosening a few things". I drained all the coolant and the oil from the engine...the disconnected all the lines and took that b**** off (looking back at it now, I could have just took off the lines and looked for holes or leaking points, I just wanted to seem cool and take the turbo off! lol, newb stuff).

All the lines came off fine except the oil feed line. Trying to take it off, I found this:

Yea, And when you line it back up there is a big gash in it facing downward. Probably bad for the turbo, Just a little bit.

So, the issue was the oil feed line, Now i just had to order another one. Too, bad my break was about over and I had to go back to school for another two months....

I wasted the rest of my break researching the book that I got with the car containing all the parts in it..the list is as follows:
Greddy valve springs
Crower retainers
OEM Water Pump
OEM Oil Pump
OEM Front Main Seal
OEM Thermostat
TMS Head Studs
ARP Main Studs
ARP Rod Bolt Kit
Machine shop goodies including multi-angle valve job, port and polis, honing, etc.
Teflon coated bearings
Greddy Profec B Spec-II Boost Controller
Greddy Full Auto Timer
HDI Hybrid Intercooler
Silvia S15 Turbo (T-28, 60 trim)
Sard R2D2 BOV
Catch Can
Koyo Rad Radiator
Dual Electric Fans
Apex’I Power FC and Commander
Full Exhaust (Not sure, but I think It’s Greddy)
Spec Clutch stage 3 and pressure plate
Aluminum Flywheel
Z32 MAF
Sard Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walboro 255 fuel Pump

Interior:
HUD Dash and cluster
S14 Seats (Front and Rear)
Razo Shift knob
Defi Oil Pressure Gauge
Tomei Boost Gauge

Exterior:
Shark Nose front bumper
180sx wheels in the rear, 1 spare.

Suspension:
Cut springs, sorta blown shocks

All this and no drivey! :(

This was depressing. I had figured out, what was the problem, but I wouldn't be able to drive it because I had to go back to school before the part would get here. I put everything back together, covered it up and prepared my self of the two month anxiety attack I was about to have for not being able to work on this thing...

LOL. I know your pain.. Seems like a decent parts list. We'll keep the thread here, so that it can get some attention. Just keep in mind that other peoples projects typically result in numerous headaches. (A lot of the reason it's hard to sell modified cars for anywhere near what you have in them..) Best of luck with it. I'll be checking in here regularly.

First week of summer

Alas! the end of the school year was here. As soon as I got home I dropped my stuff from school, took the car cover off of the car, picked up the new oil feed line and got to switching the parts out. fifteen minutes later, I took my oil stained, sweaty and shaky hands and turned the ignition. only to hear the retched noise of what sounded like valves ticking; "ugh, NO! not after I bought it" I thought. I noticed, however, that when ever the engine would get over ~3500RPMs, the rattle noise wound disperse. Now, I had always thought the valve tick was at any range of RPMs so, I decided to google search the noise. well, low and behold, after searching and a couple of youtube vids, I figured out what the noise was...VTC RATTLE!! "you gotta be kidding me, I gotta drive around with this s***?" I thought to myself. Well, atleast it wasn't affecting much else other than my and anyone I'm driving next to's ears..Next I looked under the car to see if there was any leaking going on. YES! no leakage! which meant, I finally got to take this thing for it's first drive, around the neighborhood..

This was my first car, let alone stick shift or turbo car. I had no Idea what it felt like. When I pulled out of the drive way, I instantly felt the difference between this and the Probe, LoL. It was addicting, the way it accelerated, the way it decelerated; it made me feel like I was alive, one with the car. Then the BOV went off, I knew that I wanted to be around cars for ever after that.

Video of the car a few days after I got it: http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/23/51v.mp4

Haha, yea man. this b**** is loud. I can stick my entire foot in it with room to move if I wanted to. It sets car alarms off in the parking lots like the huge V8's. It's pretty funny, I bet if a got up next to a car and revved it a little, it would set off alarms too.
