It's my first year at college, and here at Bucknell, freshmen aren't allowed cars. That's been a big problem for me; I really miss working on my Qx4. So, a fellow mechanical engineering major and myself have decided to start a project. We bought a 1986 Toyota Celica for $150 (that's the beauty of going to school in central pennsylvania). We've been pulling the car apart for the past month or so, removing any components we might want to use. Tomorrow we're dropping the engine, which we will rebuild here at school. We're then going to design and build an ultralight tubular steel chassis around the engine, which will be mid-mounted, and eventually supercharged. The goal is to build a super-light, ~150 horsepower, street legal go kart, capable of some massive acceleration. I'll post pictures and stuff as the project goes on, as well as, of course, some questions.
