That’s nothing, this is the latest trend in Japan, there was a thread going around that showed a meet up with these kinds of cars. There are plenty more examples of where this came from. Yet I don't understand what the deal is with the exhaust fad.

the exhaust is for some kind of noise contest. In Japan they fabricate these crasy exhausts which are basically medium diameter pipes, 2.25-2.75, usually straight with no mufflers, and they rev and rev and rev, backfiring, popping, and spitting flames. they compete to see who has the largest flames, loudest exhaust, tallest pipes....

There was one Option Vid recently (the one with the drift contest, Free Motion Tail, Formation Racing, etc..) that had a special section where they saw a shop that builds these things. Some of these kits are made of WOOD. Now, I like sorta garish Yakuza-ish old-school VIP cars, with fender mirrors, external oil coolers, fender flares, and obnoxious exhausts, but that's a bit much even for me.

That is a style of fixing up cars in Japan. It has been around for over 10 years now. Looks like something out of a 1960's Japanese monster movie hehe
