Some of you may remember last fall/winter a father / son build. Well...

I got a call from Cam last week "Dad, I hit a car, I'm OK". I jumped in the Van thought all the bad thoughts you get when this sort of crap happens. I called him back 200 times asking "are you OK?" "is everybody OK".

Traffic was bad, raining, Cam hit Audi SUV going about 20 MPH. Civic hit him in the rear going about the same. Police come and take names, Audi looks like nothing happened and leaves, Civic is OK, I drive the 240SX home.

Not that fast, but his bumper went under the Audi bumper and took out his fender, hood, grill, lights.

The Civic hit the back and crumpled the trunk floor. The spare tire won't come out. The rear, right tire, rubs the fender.

Long story short...Insurance says...Here's $3450 and keep the car. So now what happens?

We need to????

A. Sell car w/salvage title and get "something"B. Pull everything out and put in another S14.C. (this is what Cam wants) Get piggy with it S13

I say take all your stuff out and convert over to another s14. or sell it and dont deal with any of the issues and throw what you have like the motor into an s13 maybe with suspension setup. Then part out your s14 for more money ontop of the check from insurance already

Its sad to see it go down that way, but the good thing is you have plenty of money to get another shell and swap everything over

Oh no!!! That's terrible news!

At least Cam's not hurt.. cars can be replaced or rebuilt. Kids are a little harder to fix.

on a side note... I'm moving to Akron in a few weeks.. I might have to come visit you guys sometime. I want to see the datsun build!

chuki s13 hatch all day no questions. with all your parts, and 3500 coming in , you should be able to build anything you want with an s13 hatch.

Glad Cam is alright. I'll support any project you guys do as long as you guys work together and keep us updated, but i still like the s13 idea And you might want to set aside some of the money for Cam's new insurance rate . ..

This is upsetting, but it could have been worse. Plus 3450$ is pretty good money to buy another shell and swap everything over with some new goodies

Sucks about the s14. Glad the accident wasn't worse. Kind of a lame way for that car to go out though, if ya know what I mean.

i'm sorry but this is why kids shouldn't drive unsupervised by their parents for at least a year. isn't your son only like 14? how was he driving by himself anyway? either way glad no one was hurt though, safety first always.

The damage is not that bad at all....... I think that car is worth keeping and yeah, throw it on a frame puller. Im sure it will not cost that much to fix that. way too nice of a car to give up on.

I vote piggy hatch next. rolling chassis + parts transplant = a solid start on a build.

p.s. Glad it wasnt any worse.
