Just some interesting facts...

KA24E:-Truck version: 104-134hp, 86-97 hardbody pickup trucks, throttle body fuel injection.-Car version: 140hp, 89-90 240's, multi port electronic fuel injection

KA24DE:-Truck version: 143hp, 98-04 frontiers, Throttle body fuel injection-Car version: 155hp, 91-98 240's, Multi port electronic fuel injection

The SOHC version apeared in trucks first, but isnt as advanced as the more powerful car version. The DOHC version appeared in a car 7 years before it found its way into a nissan pickup truck.

On an interesting note, the RWD KA24DE is in its last year of production (as well as the VG33E and VG33ER), it is being replaced in 2005 with a RWD version of the QR25DE with a 6 speed manual being offered (VQ40DE replacing the VG33).

I was bored and decided to look into the history of the KA24 :p

You could order a replacement motor from a nissan dealer, but its not the same as the KA found in the 240sx, there is alot of significant differences.

My rebuilt longblock was 2100. That'd be the way to go.

Grrr.. Just because the throttle body is vertical does NOT mean it's TBI (Throttle body injection). I had a 1997 KA24E Nissan pickup. It was Sequential Multiport EFI. Yes, with injectors and all. For ALL the cylinders. So let's get this straight. NOT ALL THE TRUCK KA24Es WERE TBI VERY FEW WERE. I think all of the 1990 Models were multiport as a matter of fact. They used a different engine called the Z24 prior to 1990 when they came out with the KA24E, the z24 was throttle body injection.

Even the 2004 is Vertical throttlebody i'm pretty sure, and it's Multiport EFI.

It IS a truck motor. It's within 10 hp of the truck version, the truck one just has more low end torque and is made to run on more fuels it can run down to 83 octane or somthing like that. So it has slightly less power.
