Whats up everyone. I love my 240sx and the 2.4 engine that is in it and that was built in america. So i was thinking about turbocharging it in the early summer next year. I'm planning on spending 3,000 on it. The sr20 swap never crossed my mind because i wanted to keep the car automatic and turbocharge it. But now all of my friends are telling me that everyone that he knows that turbocharged the ka blow up the engine. That just made me want to still turbocharge my car but run it at low boost. But is it true that ka-t's blow up as much as what people say, or are they just haters.

JESUS CHRIST... people need to realize that the only reason the KA blows up is cause of inexperience and cheapskates!

There was a post here a while back of a guy that asked everyone with a ka-t to post how long theyve had it, what mods were done, how they drive and how much they boost, and if stuff broke, what went wrong. Basically the thread was on reliability, it had great response.. if I remember most breaks were stock parts or user error.. same risk with the SR. Goodluck. Might also wanna ask this on http://www.ka-t.org guys over there are nuts with turbo'd kas.--I personally trust the KA in my car that I REBUILT, I dont trust engines that come across the sea in crates and god knows what? that coulda been off wrecked cars and most people I talk to miss parts in their swaps etc..

thanks for all the info guys, but with that straighten out i only have one more question to ask. should i rebuilt my auto transmission and put in stronger clutches and servos or could it handle the propably 290 hp that im going to put on it. It has 92,000 miles on it and it was just rebuilt at like 86,000.

Don't waste your money on the stock transmission. Although Geoman might have a cheap fix. f you want to keep auto which is awesome with boost. AMS makes a c4 adapter plate. Just get the c4 transmission. Best bet would be to buy the IAP kit. Solid kit with no problems.Don't cheap out on anything. It'll bite you in the ***.Looking to spend probably 4000 by the time you get everything for that kit. Injectors Sparkplug, wires, fluids etc. Also it would be wise to set your goal now so that $500 enth tune will last.

I been beating my KAT (running emanage) for the last two years without any issues, although the exhaust is starting to leak a little around the downpipe area. Other than that, the engine is still in good shape.

My buddy is running powerfc map version on his KA-turbo and dynod a little above 260rwhp at 8.8psi, and I'm expecting it to last for years - but we'll see.
