The last 2 days I noticed my J30 has been acting up. The battery light ( the one in the gauge cluster) is lighting up whenever the car is not moving, but as soon as I go, it will turn off. Then as I brake for a stoplight, the battery light will slowly light up again. Also, the brake light starts to light up also. The parking breake isn't on at all and I seem to have enough brake fluid in the car.

Last night, I was driving home, and right before I got home it really started to get weird. The radio starting making weird noises. The AB light turned on, the Airbag light turned on also. The headlights got dim and it just seemed like the car way dying or something.

So, today I figured I should get a new battery. Maybe the battery was just old and dying out very fast. I went to the store and they said the battery was bad, so I got a new one and put it in.

Drove the car around a bit today and it was fine, but then tonight, the Battery light and brake light started doing the same thing again.

Any idea what my problem is?

Alternator going bad or dead?

Your alternator is on the way out.

I would replace it with either a rebuilt or new OEM Nissan one.

Aftermarket alternators (except for 2 members in the history of this forum) are known for causing all sorts of weird electrical and idling issues.

ah thank you. That's what I figured.

Thanks for the info on the OEM vs. aftermarket one.

I guess after I fix this, I'll have to consider getting the transmission looked at, since it loves to slip often.
