Today I went to the local dealer to get some plastic clips that hold the plastic headlight and intake covers to the car. I don't know how to better describe them, I will see if my friend can get me a picture...

Anyways I get there and there were two parts guys and someone else who didn't work there. I knocked on the window and two minutes later someone comes over and opens the window to help me. I ask for those clips that hold the three covers in place. The parts guy tells me they go for $1.98 each but to buy one you have to buy the whole bag of 10 which they come in which is $20 without 7% tax here. I remember the days of 5% tax, those were days. The news paper was 50 cents back then as well. When he tells me the price I wish I could see my own face because I was shocked as was the parts guy who saw my face. I ask him nicely can you perhaps lower the price a little and he said no. He said you should know the price because you have Nissan FAST (Another story I will tell you about), I said speaking of that do you perhaps have any old Nissan FAST CD's, He said NO.

I then told him since this will not fix my car in anyway I will have to come back for them. He then said (Not in a quiet voice either) "I knew you would not buy them". Now what I should have done when I heard him say that is pull him through the parts window and beat him with his own parts he had sitting near him. But I figured I might need to come back the dealer so I pretended I didn't hear him.

I went to Lowes to pick up some electrical wire and the guy cutting the wire is running three departments because the workers there are lazy or don't show up he says. I am thinking to myself what did I do to the Infiniti dealer parts guy (new guy By The Way) for him to say that to me.

Now the story of how the dealer know I have Nissan FAST (Thanks to a former NICO member). I went to the same dealer and one of the guys there couldn't find this part I needed despite describing it to the best of my ability (Infiniti Of Scottsdale always finds the parts I need). So 10 minutes later I tell him call the dealer parts hotline (They help the parts guys out when they need help). He refuses and I say let me run to my car and get MY NISSAN FAST. I come back with the laptop and find the part while he watches 1 minute later he is looking up the part number and tells me $20 for a tube of RTV for the valve covers. I tell him that much he says yes, I say can you price compete with another dealer. He says no and I walk away yet again knowing I wasted my time, and a 20 year old taught the parts guy how to find a part.

So I wish there were more local dealers that new how to do there job and were nice. I am nice honestly I am not as mean as I am on NICO. I am mean on NICO because I forget that I am talking to another real human and its just easier to be mean that it is to be nice.

You see NICO this is why I make little projects that I think will improve the Q, Because it takes my mind off almost everything else in my life. I need to get a girl to take my mind away but I need to put the Q back together...

I've been to dealer you went to (you know that) and I told you how I handled them ;). I got what I wanted in a very diplomatic fashion. You always attract more with honey than you do with vinegar. I know you're a good guy, but you're dealing with sharks. That place is "special".

Sometimes people need to step back and think before they speak. There is a general lack of respect these days. Some of the parts guys think if you don't buy a part that they quoted you $2800 for, for a $2800 car that you're cheap and give you a dirty look and possibly some back talk. They're upset that they spent 3 minutes of their time looking up a part that you didn't buy. What did they lose by looking it up? Ultimately, who really cares Paul. Don't sweat it. Not everyone is like that. I met a lot of wonderful people because of this car; many people from this forum including you, and even quite a few parts guys.

There will always be "special" people out there. I told one of the service guys to shut up (in a polite fashion) when he snickered at me, by reminding him that he has a bus pass and doesn't have big enough balls to own a G50 Q45 even with the entire dealership at his disposal. All of the staff laughed at him and even some of the customers. He felt so humiliated. He deserved it and even some of the staff came up to me on the side and thanked me and I caught a couple of thumbs up. They said finally someone put him in his place. Some people are rude. Maybe he had problems at home. Who knows what a person's personal situation is. It doesn't give them the right to be rude. They have no rights. There should be a certain amount of respect that is upheld in any given circumstance.

We all get frustrated sometimes and it's okay to vent. Don't forget, I'm the only Active guy up here and no one knows anything about my car. They barely know anything about the G50. I've been to almost every Infiniti dealer in a 1500 mile radius and still can't get my car serviced with a CONSULT. You should see how rude Infiniti of Canada agents are. You know, if I didn't look up my own parts and do my own homework and if I didn't have you guys here, I'd be in big trouble. It's only because of you guys that I kept this car. You guys helped me keep it going and still do. The other blessing I have is my mechanic. He is the biggest gift.

* Regarding the girl issue...not to worry, I got you covered :yesnod.

Hurricane...The only thing more disgraceful than that "Hurricane" is the dealership in question.

I am still here I just got a little upset about the "Duel condenser fan on a G50 (1990-1996 Infiniti Q45)" Topic.

I have tried Pep Boys, Auto Zone and Advance Auto and they all sell the same clips which are either two big or too small.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dealership also did some work on my car because the previous owner brought it there. The most senior Tech their has only 15 years experience (Not factory trained on the 1990-1993 Q45). He did ask me if I have Active suspension because of the stance (OEM springs and Tokico blue shocks).

But when I brought the car there with my slightly bad idle he came back $120 and a hour later and said the car is fine. I told him I know what perfect is and this isn't it. I will never settle for less but if a dealer can't fix it because of there lack of experience (They have the tools) then its all up to me. A dealer should be able to fix the problem or tell me I can't find a issue so I will charge you half our rate because we wasted your time and money.

A couple of months ago I spoke with one of the service advisors and asked him if they offer the BG fuel injector flush service and he said he has been there two years and that machine has never been used. He said he doesn't know and he will call me later and tell me. He called me later and said he spoke with a senior tech (Probably a kid fresh out of UTI or other school) and he said to check with the Idle Air Control solenoid. If needed raise the idle to make the rough idle go away. I told him that will only cover up the idle issue, if that pertained to my problem (Which it doesn't). I asked him how much is a Power Balance test (To get a idea of where the problem may be). He said $120, I told him it take 2 minute (Car was already warmed up) he said thats the price. I told him how the Power Balance test works and he said are you a mechanic. I told him no I am 21 years old and I am dedicated to this car. So in the end i got no where with him.

I called up a Nissan Dealer and they said they offer the service for $150. I said thats fine as long as they can do a power balance test after the flush to make sure the problem is resolved (All cylinder are with in 12 RPMs of each other). The person said $120 for a Power Balance test. To make sure the problem is gone or its a compression or vacuum (lower than atmospheric pressure).

So in the end either I have to pay a huge amount to find out a little more than I already know (True Power Balance test results) or keep reading and buy the tools myself and fix my problems.

Unfortunately for the dealer I will do that latter because then I will be able to help others.

Well, first off its 6.25% tax up here in the "commonwealth state" aka your as poor as me state, Second off, you should have realized that the other weekend it was tax free weekend here paul! we triple our sales for the week in a day. And qship, the hurricane was pathetic. I wish we could have a hurricane in the winter. 10 feet of snow means 10 days off from work! I have in with Johnson nissan here in pittsfield. I applied for a job there and they offered but i didn't take it because i got the job at the wine place. I know like 4 out of 9 techs there and they just love seeing the Q. Always told me when i first got it that it would never run right. Perfect now (knock on wood) BTW remember paul, the shop is only 50-100 whatever feet from the end of the Tpike. pepboyz advanced and autozone are only minimum wage bullshytzers if you haven't realized that? "that price doesn't apply to premium cars" is the answer you get down here in pittsfield. Honestly. Most places won't even tell you the small things that are going wrong with your car, they just wait until it gets worse so it costs more money. Even with the economy the way it is. People are throwing money at the ground. So they expect you to keep doing it. I get A-hole's in everyday spending thousands on wine

I knew it was close to 7% but it won't be long before its really 7%.

Man you should have got a job at the dealership so you have access to the Nissan Consult, I would race to where you are to make sure I can use it.

Yeah they get paid Minimum wage along with oil change places (Valvoline, Jiffy Lube..) It sucks because I see so many cars there such as BMW's, Mercedes Benz...

The dealership near me is said to be the FIRST INFINITI DEALER IN THE USA. So I just assumed there would be a true senior Infiniti Tech.

Maybe I ask too much when I want a dealer too lookup a price one in a while (Once every couple of months) or fix my ever so slight idle issue. I know Dennis says that dealers have given up on the customers because the customers FIRST gave up on the dealer and went elsewhere for service.

Qship96 once said that dealers cringe when they see a old Infiniti (Q45 in this case) come up to the dealer and it only gets worse when the owner is young.... But the saying stands "never judge a book by its cover".

If Nissan wants to stay in business they must lower there overhead (Costs) so the savings can be transfered over to the customer.
