Well noone posts in the the damn vg forum so ill post this here.

There are a lot of variations of the VG motor. My question is are the blocks the same between them? Specificly, would a 92 pathfinder vg30e be the same as the 300zx vg30de?

The SOHC and DOHC blocks are different. Almost no external parts will swap. This includes the heads. You can use the VG30DE(TT) pistons, rods, crank in a VG30E(T) motor.

i was under the impression the blocks arfe the same except for their bore. in fact a 3.0 could be bored out to 3.3 also you can swap heads between blocks. just a matter of swaping out timing gear and related items. also all the accessory mounting bosses are in the same place on both blocks so why wouldn't the accessories fit.

Yes, the VG33E and VG30E are the same except bore and stroke.

But the VG33E/VG30E and the VG30DE(TT) are different.

so what prohibits the DE heads from working on a E block?

and does someone know the bore/stroke differences of the vg30 and the vg33?

Mostly due to the fact that NONE of the alignment studs and none of the bolts will line up.

VG30 (both SOHC and DOHC versions):bore = 87mm; stroke = 83mm, 2960cc

VG33:bore = 91.5mm; stroke = 83mm, 3275cc
