Whoa... man that sucks!

Thanks for sharing.. that's good info!

Did you remove the intake and then reinstall it without replacing that gasket? Or did the gasket just break down and fail over time?

Actually I was pulling accessories off of my motor to understand why it had siezed...

I went flat out from zero to about 110 mph on an on ramp... I looked behind me and the car started to smoke.. soon enough the motor would hardly spin. I pulled over immediately, Got it towed home, and started dissasembly..

I was expecting to see the crank pulley drive rounded off... but I found this first.

does the rb20's run paper gaskets on the intake manifold? cause my 25 had a metal one.

Either way, that sucks man.

Damn! That sucks man, sorry to hear it. The rb25 is metal and I always coat mine in clear silicone to make sure it is perfectly sealed to the head and the manifold

Thanks. I called Nismoparts.com and they have all the gaskets I need IN STOCK. Also, I dont have to order them in the full set... This is great.. New RB20 gets here on tuesday, then I'll start bolting on the clutch, water pump, timing belt, turbo/intake/etc. gaskets, larger turbo, and the 450cc's.

Bigger and badder... Right guys?

That silicone was from the coolant tube that bolts to the bottom of the intake manifold. the tube that flows coolant through that port that's gasket leaked. Have you ever looked at the bottom of your intake manifold?

Gizzmo also sells an aftermarket gasket that is the thick heat dispensing kind. You just have to make sure that you coat each side with rtv. I had to do mine twice!

it was about 240,000 kilometers old.

My new motor, with about 100 kilometers was showing signs of wear as well, I almost considered running it, until I pulled the intake manifold off... I'm really glad I replaced it this time and didnt just assume it was in good condition because of half the mileage.

ok, i guess i'll need to replace my as well. Using rtv as a gasket doesn't sound to reliable now.... i hate my motor to get it like urs did. So pretty much it clogged the coolant port or did it screw up ur oil pump?

i have seen a couple of those warped over time and also leak

except for those that remove their IM too damn much, it tend to hold up well

sorry about the whole oil i thought ur gasket was silicone type(copperish type) my bad i heard those things screw up the oil and i thought thats why ur engine went kookoo. Right now i'm using a silicone gasket on the upper to lower manifold gasket. I wanted to know if they last for awhile, also if they tend to leak and cuase a vaccume cuz my has a slight vaccum leak and think its from it.
