What a great idea for a thread. Instead of hearing about Honda rubbish, I'd much rather we discuss the reason we are all here in the first place..

My CA18det hasn't run for 5 months as I've been doing some intense mods to my car including new intercooler, new 270 deg cams, valve springs, retainers, new exhaust manifold, modify the exhaust, fuel reg, intercooler piping (going alloy piping), new intake pod arrangement. Also upgrading brakes, moving catch can, moving windscreen washer bottle, Oil filter relocation kit, a bit of rewiring in the engine bay . All in my Datsun 1200 :-)

All of this work can only be done because of my love for the CA! :-)

..and my like for full JUN hyperlemon Supra style drifts and wheelstands.

Well i for one went through some choices in engines and finally decided for the CA18DET. Not only was it the orignal engine in my "Silvia" but to me seemed like the best candidate.

1. Lightest out of all motors possible for my S13.

2. Better for high engine revolutions, Cast Iron block, Aluminum head with "true Camshaft on valves"(no rocker arms), Timing belt and cam gears(no chain or sprockets) "ECCS" Plenum Manifold (ECCS being Nissan's engine control at the time), and turbocharged!

3. Distributorless coil-on-plug ignition. (Unlike my current dohc KA)

4. Sits further back and lower than the other motors. Great for physics and control.

5. Overall balance and handling will be my goal.

6. Cheapest! (Depends on what your trying to do...)

7. Smallest engine! Easier for me to work on! Ill be able to kick as* with a 1.8L.

8. "I like to think of it as an Old-school-high-tech Mini-RB motor."

Competition: Bro's H22A EK9, Friend's B16A (GSR head) CRX Si, Friend's 91 240SX SE, Friend's B18 type r Integra and who ever else wants to play around.

I've spent so much money on my past 2 CA18's, how can I not love them?!I still believe that the engine will perform the way I know it can, just needs a couple more thousand into it... or maybe I'm so far in the hole, I can't afford to do anything else. Never get your hopes up, is the only advice I can give anyone. 2 engines, 3 turbos', thousands of dollars, and driven it 9 months out of 36. Hell Yeah!!!!

I'm like dattodude in the fact that my CA powered sentra is all assembled, but need to do some adjusting of the engine height so that I don't keep wearing out my very expensive custom axles. Old school rules and those rules never change...........CA all the way!

I wouldn't sell my CA..It's funny because Dee and I just got back from doin a little running around in my car after changing the engine mounts and doin a few things to it..We came across a spot where there were nothing but Chevy's and Honda Fans...An integra was on our @$$ and followed us to a stop sign..Across from us was a BIG Block Chevy(DONK) with some juice in it doing a burnout and then taking off FULL throttle, Dee and I looked @ each other and I knew wat was about to happen..2-Step and then go, 18 Lbs all the way, we reeled that Chevy right back in faster than u can say "Oh S^%&*" LoL, and as for that little integra "GSR" or watever model it was, we saw some pretty H.I.D's about a good half a mile behind us(LoL) poor little guy did all that chasing and "Popping V-Tec" just to catch us and couldnt even catch up. Hope we didn't embarrass him in front of his 8 Honda Car Line-Up Buddies!

Man, that was was intense . Guys, this kid's car is anice clean piece of work and not just because I did the work, but because it really is and even the guys at the spot was sorta drooling on the car. His goal is simple, the car has to at least see 450whp, but I'll shooting for more. When we take to a dyno (I hope soon), it will be balls-out on the boost side of the house and get you guys some actual real-time footage of his car. The 60-1 is a bit big for our engines, but you can't be expecting it to act like a T25 either.

Around here I'm well known as the nissan man, but I just adore the CA18DET and I'm extremely partial to it. So I guess I'm a CA man and so is my son, who is really the real "Boost_boy" .

I love mine too. Finally got all four wheels back on the ground after six months of working on it. Well six months because some stupid mechanics took three of my CA motors apart and never even got one back in the car. So a friend and I had the joy of trying to figure out what these idiots did. Here is a pic with the 16 inch winter tires I took today. hopefully when it gets back on the road the Kakimoto's will go back on there. LOVE THOSE CA'S!!!!!!!!! Just installed a set of S14 beige leather seats I scored for 45 bucks, and it has a new FMIC (last one a bit too large).
