He hates America. He says it is wrong to strive for Middle Class and follow the white man.......He just passed up Middle Class for a gated community.

For someone who hates America it sure is being good to him.

C'mon audtatious, Churches are suppose to help the poor and impoverished make it in society. Doesn't (that book that shall not be mentioned here) say that charity begins at (with a 1.6 million dollar) home. That looks like a bargain, it would be worth 3x that here.

A better question is why the IRS/local taxing authority allows this stuff to remain tax exempt. By putting the name of a church on the deed, doesn't the property becomes tax exempt? I hope not, but then, the IRS ran from that same battle with Scientology didn't it?

Obama is still catching crap for what the nearsighted reverend did, and this isn't going to stop. As long as this is the worse they can find, President Obama has it made. Whoops, did I say President?

I don't necessarily have an issue with churches having a tax-exempt status in general. I do have issues when they use that status to skirt issues. A valid question would be what happens when a long-term pastor at another church retires, does he get a home on "church property" as well? I have been by a large number of churches which have pastor residences and they are very "humble".

Barack himself has made statements back to 2002 that kind of mimics some of the stuff his pastor has said from a race perspective (not hate America stuff but pretty race oriented). There is also a whole lot of weirdness in his background as well which brings up a "hmmmmm". Being from a broken home (shattered is more like it) with the father having multiple marriages at the same time and his mom running off and his step-grandmother (who he flung in front of a bus) raising him has to have had a huge emotional impact on him, thus I question his stability and capability to make command decisions that supports the US as a whole. There is also some interest in why he joined that church in the first place (street cred).

I think you have a valid point about some of the things that need to be addressed in Obama's past. If he gets the nod from his party, the election may come down to that.

The other side of the coin is that McCain isn't doing anything to make me look at him any differently. The list of "possible" running mates leaves me searching for words. (posted in this thread

Looks like Obama is starting to control the situation.
CNN wrote:Sen. Barack Obama says in an interview scheduled to air on TV Friday that he would have left his church if his pastor had not retired and had not acknowledged making comments that "deeply offended people."

"Had the reverend not retired and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws, then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church," the senator said.
Translated: The good reverend has his head up his butt, and I'm distancing myself from him.

I am NOT a fan of Mac. I don't agree with a lot of his policies at all. I just happen to dislike Hillary and Obama more.

Obama is trying to get a grip and I'm sure he hopes the majority of those who stare at him with stars in their eyes believe him. Some of the past comments and speaches, plus the fact that he initially lied about it, tends to tell me that he (and Hillary as well) are simply saying things that their supporters want to hear.

I will keep my contribution simple...

The same "reference which shall not be named" says that money is the root of all evil, right? Oh, wait, it's not. The love of it is. Doesn't matter if you're clergy, a politician, a doctor, a burger-flipper, a saint or a heathen. You love the dough, you gotta go.

In essence, no one is excused from greed. Not even me, and I'm as good as it gets. Amirite?

Churches are not supposed to be greedy. The money they get should go to supporting the ministry and support of those who need it. Ministers/Pastors should not be going into those careers if they simple expect to live in luxury.

^ One would say the same about public servants (politicians). But I agree whole-heartedly. Nothing dilutes a message like apparent hypocrisy. They don't have to live dirt-poor, but gross excess damages integrity IMO.

Politicians are paid a set salary. During their time in their position they should not be allowed to become board members of any businesses nor should they actually own a business when they take office. They should live "within the means" of what the salary pays.

Forcing the above would get rid of a whole lot of politicians that are made rich simply due to their position.

(Insert sarcasm abundant)Oh... so he doesn't associate with Afro-centric radicals?????I sure am glad that he cleared that all up! Whewwwww... he sure is a good guy! I wouldn't want to think that he associates with anyone who has had questionable stances on past issues!

Not to mention the fact that the brother Louis Farrakahn is closely tied to The splendiferous Reverend Jesse Jackson...

Who is very closely associated with Barak Obama...

Makes me sick to my stomach... I got into an argument with a "born again" coworker that defended the fact that certain "pastors" drove Bentleys or a Rolls. He said that they were just getting what they sowed. whatever....

Yeah, but you can't take that as a normal "case" because it does not seem that way to me.

No offense Joe, but using the term 'born again' does not insinuate that a Christian backs the Prosperity Gospel (also called Word of Faith) preachers. Which is what I believe that coworker was defending. I know plenty of 'born again' Christians that think Prosperity Gospel is an abomination.

I am all for Pastors being paid well for their service to God, to the Ministry and the Church. I come from a line of Pastors, that never got 'paid.' So I try to make sure my Pastor gets well above Synod minimum and is paid what the norm is in the surrounding area. Now I am getting to my point (sorry for being long winded). If I understood Fox News correctly. Minister Wright purchased land in a nice section of Chicago years ago... (no problem yet.) As he was getting ready to retire the congregation secured a 1 million dollar mortgage to build a home for him on the property. Ok, a bit much but still no problem yet. But the congregation also secured a 10 million dollar line of credit??? Good God. How can a man preach about Whitey keeping the Blackman down when he lives better than most White people?

On a different note. We have a local TV Music station in Indy that airs worship services from different churches around town. They use to show the Nation of Islam Mosque on the station around 2pm on Sundays. This kid http://www.truthinstitute.org/...d.htmspews the same hate of Louis Farrakhan and Rev Jeremiah Wrong. The Mosque is down by where Repo use to work on Keystone Ave. I am sure after they got done with their ranting and raving, they would go up and buy a Cadillac from the White Devil himself... Repoman.

I've heard Farrakan (sp, don't care) and his frothing at the mouth hate speech, and wondered why he hasn't been branded a terrorlst for his desire to destroy our country.

Nuri Muhammad isn't any better. He will probably take the reigns when Farrakhan dies.

There will always be someone to step up. Until "the people" decide they have had enough with the situation and work to fix the community as a whole they seem to need people like this to make them feel better.

Guess the above makes me a racist to some people
