I just recieved the cologan bra I ordered online for my 1995 Infiniti J30t. I popped the hood and began installing it, but I was having trouble getting the perfect fit right away (and the weather wasn't so good anyway) so I decided to throw it in the trunk and try again another day. So yesterday it was nice and sunny outside so I go to pop the hood and try again and the damn thing is stuck! I pulled the hell out of the hood release and then tried to dislodge the hood manually from the front, but that thing is stuck good. This ever happen to anyone else? Any ideas as to what I should do? I am fine for a while, but eventually I am going to need an oil change or something. . . I need access.

If you don't have any skills in this area, go to a body shop. Being in New England, I see this all winter long, and it usually takes 1/2 an hour to get a stuck hood open, at the most, but after 20 minutes after that 1/2 hour, I'm thinking to myself "just tell the owner to take it to the body shop, and save me the effort." You might want to try to see if you can get a straight shot of white lithium grease onto the latch, usually that's where the rust seizes up the works, and a good shot of lube in there can work wonders, but it almost always ends up with a set of long thin screwdrivers and a flashlight... good luck!

Have you tried having someone else pull the latch while you lift on the hood? Usually that spring-loaded latch will close up on your way from the seat to the front.

Thanks. I will try that with me and my roommate when I get home today, but if it doesn't work. . . how much do you think a body shop is going to try and charge me to pop the top on my hood?

shouldn't be much at all, if anything. In any shop I've ever worked at, it was always a freebie. It made for happy customers, which means repeat customers. Unless it took a couple hours or something, then it was usually shop rate, or 1/2 shop rate, depending on how much of a bear it was.

Thanks ya'll me and my roommate got it open and now it is working to where I can open it solo. I was scared their for a minute because I HATE paying out money for anything that isn't preformance, audio, or going to make the whip look better.

Well then you might want to reconsider infiniti ownership!! :D

Just kidding.

My hood doesnt pop up when you pull the lever... You pull it then you gotta lift it up.. Looks like I got some lubricating to do!
