Yea so lately a lot of threads have risen about the "heritage" of our cars. I'm getting kinda tired of it but hey, i cant stop people from posting.

Here is something for all you noobie's or event eh vet's here to read to learn a little more background on Nissan Motor Corp.

This should answer a lot of questions about "why is this s-chassis this" when did this come out yada yada yada

very very informative paper. i liked it very much.

one question however: did the fastbacks in the UK (dubbed as the 200sx) have an SR20DET as well?

An excellent read, to be sure. A couple of things, if I may:

- the S14 SR20DET packs a rated 220hp and not 250 (most likely a typo)- you could mention that the S14 SR20 motor also introduced variable valve timing to the S chassis, though vvt was excluded from the US market KA of the same generation

Yeah, I know where it belongs. BTW, I had previously theorized about why Nissan loaded the USDM S chassis cars with the KAs, and it appears that your research backed me up. I didn't buy the whole hooplah about emissions holding back the implementation of turbo motors for the cars. I knew that NNA (Nissan North America) didn't want to cannibalize the N/A 300ZX sales with a lower cost vehicle that could out perform it.

very good paper, for high school or college?

Maybe you want to add something on Count Albert Von Goertz, who designed the CSP311, and whose vision paved the way for the following Silvia models. He also desiged cars for BMW, Studebaker, and others

most notably the whole porsche 928/944 thing that started the conspiracy involving his ties to the z-car's original design.

welll, the CSP311 was based on the Fairlady chasis. He was brought in about half way through the "Silvia" project, and subsecuently(sp.?) saved it.

I dont think they have anounced if it is an 'S' chasis, but it sure looks it. It sure ie reminiscent of all other S chasis cars, look at the rear windows, and then you'll see. I personally think it is a buetiful car.

I just want to point out a few things... the CA18DET was actually debuted in the S12 Silvia the very last year in a limited production RSX type. It also came with a CA18ET, which was the more common across the pond and the only turbo engine in the states... also, 87-88 the S12 came with a VG30E in the SE model, only in the States. Just want to point this out for further reference.

Nice Paper, I wrote a 12 page reasearch paper on the history of the Z-Car last year for college. Just a couple things you could change.

The s12 was released in the US as the 200sx, came with the ca20e, vg30e and the ca18et. Don't know if anyone else caught that.

ahhhh very good for high school, the reason i ask is i wrote one my senior year on the history of the Silvia too. I think yours might be better, i will try to go and dig mine out of my old school crap! The cool thing about mine was i acctually used NICO as a referance, and that is how i found NICO
