the good thing was, I fitted my new chassis dynamics springs to the car, however as we were putting the last one on the back the strut on the left rear started to leak oil , I swear I saw ducks paddling on the slick. GRR, after all that work, well at least I get to put some KYB's on it. Whilst the wheels were off I took the chance to inspect the rear brake pads, low. Got back home jacked up the rear and the jack point collapsed on one side (arrgh) still a nice set of EBC pads and a lot of cleaning later and all is well. well , not quite, come the time for the annual roadworthy test (MoT) thats now two rusty spots to cure. But as I was out in the rain refitting my wheels the postman delivered my new front strut bar, proving that every cloud has a silver lining. Just wish my wallet did , hehehe. Thats uk weather for ya tho, wet and rusty. Still I love my japanese money pit . (why??)

what spot did you use to jack up the car that made it collapse?

...what REPO said.

I jacked it up very precisely on the left hand rear jacking point , indicated by the smi circular cut out on the sill where the sill is reinforced for the jack. Its a problem over here with the car that it rusts around that area, then when you go to use the point it collapses. I had the other side done last year, but it had gone up ok on this side only three days before. The other rust area is in the wheel arch on the front just above the chassis rail, behind the strut tower, esasily remedied by cutting out the rot and replating. but that will have to wait a while till I have reinforced my bank balance first.I do have a picture and when I have uploaded it to my website I will let u know, there are some pics already . http://www.geocities.com/flagstaffuk it has changed a bit since those pics were taken, and I am waiting some from the developers, of the engine bay and the exterior.

gotcha! i figured you were using that spot for jacking as you said. really wonderin if you were using the jack that came with the car or a standard garage jack..which would inevitably crush that area.

Ok , I actually used the carjack rather than a garage jack. I used a 2 ton trolly jack after the problerm occurred. but like I said itrs not insurmountable, just a little expensive and a blooming nuicance.:icesangel
