Hey Guys,I haven't been in here for a while, but I just wanted to check in with you fellas and let you know that I did a little preventative maintenence today. The G just rolled over 24k miles so I figured it was time to do a little tune up. I changed the Fujita Air Filters, did a royal purple 5w30 oil change, spark plugs, fuel injection cleaning, Transmission flush & fill and changed the differential gear oil to Royal Purple 75weight. The beast is running like she's brand new and peppier than ever! It was a bit of an expensive maintenence day, but well worth it! All in all about $385 for the kit and kaboodle... wish I would have spent it on a new Tanabe Exhaust, but I really believe in ounces of prevention!Happy G-ing!!!!!!

Well done! Nothing like a well oiled G with tons of preventive maintenance. Excellent.

Has anyone done a Dyno test with the Royal Purple running in their car yet?

You guys are going to think that I'm a Royal Purple salesman, but I did a little research and they did a show on Horsepower TV about using Royal Purple... the link is to the videos from the show. They show 9hp gain just from the oil change. I'm not 100% convinced that I get that kind of gain, and the show may be a little biased since they are sponsored by royal purple but I know that the G loves the stuff and will never go back to any other oil in the G...

The G - 35 Coupe appears to respond better with Ryal Purple once you push it beyond 4500 RPM---beyond 4500 RPM is where the horsepower gains really exist . If you rarely do this, you probably won't see any difference between Royal Purple and any other full synthetic oils. Royal Purple is really for some level of extremes. I typically flog my car---6500 RPM and sometimes 7000 RPM, and so I need an oil that does extreme stuff.

By the way, I have never seen the Royal purple ad until the link you posted. And more than horsepower I do feel the torque.

I am impressed by your maintenance, plugs at 24,000mi.

I really have to doubt the HP gains from an oil change. In the highly competitive luxury sedan class 8 hp would warrant oil specifications.

~Jacko I really have to go for a ride with you someday.

I have heard an oil change is worth 5 hp vs 3000 mile oil?

I thought the show claimed 9HP with all oils (engine, transmission, diff) changed to RP. I guess I'll have to watch it again.

*edit* Watch the video of HP TV dyno the LS1. They see a 9 HP gain at the wheels switching all lubes to RP.

my car just got over 24k, but when i brought it at 18k they had already done a major lube up like yours... but when it hits 30k i will be doing the whole shabang like you just did... i dont know if ill do spark plugs...

Are spark plugs in a G35 worth changing at 30k?

The plugs are supposed to last 90,000-100,000 miles, but that's all depending on how you drive your G. I personally won't be waiting that long to change mine either.

I know 24k is a bit premature on the plugs, but she had been firing a little sluggish lately so I figured it was a small expense to just get out of the way... besides, I drive like I have explosive diahreah and i'm trying to find a toilet so I figured it was about time to tune her up...

Sorry, I'm in a movie funk. Sean probably knows what I'm talking about. I'll stop with these posts in your thread.
