ohhhh boy, I'm soaked in fuel!!

lol so yeah, with great anticipation I finally "powered up" the car for the first time today. I triple checked everything I swear, the grounds are perfect, no bare wires, everything is neat and tidy... so I connected up the EMS, attached the battery cables slowly and..... *ding* *ding* I can hear the door chime going off, and the trunk light is on. Victory! No explosions! No fires! No giant arcing sparks!

Drunk with my accomplishment, I decided to turn the key to the "on" position and test out the headlights.. you know... just to see if everything really works. Well I flip the pop ups up and the go up and lights come on. Nice! I hear a hissing sort of sound though. Hm. Wonder what that could be. I cant really see the engine bay cause I have cardboard over the windshield to protect it. I write the hissing sound off as just the rear power antenna noise. That must be it. (nevermind the fact that I dont have a radio....). I turn the car off and do it again. More hissing... and I can see liquid spraying to my left, over the fender and onto the garage floor. Uh oh.

It was obvious as soon as I looked at it... I freakin put the gas lines on backwards. I'm such a dumbass.. I mean really- thats the simplest thing I could have really screwed up, and now fuel is evvvvverywhere. All over the engine bay, on the garage floor and anywhere else the spray from the fuel return side of the rail could have reached.

Heh well I fixed the problem and everything is fine and dandy now... lol but damn haha my first experience turning this car's key and it was kinda scary. Thought Id share it with all of ya...

haha, that crap tends to happen when you work on your car for too many hours at a time. it gets tiring and dumb things happen.

myself, i left a big drive socket wrench on the crank pulley nut when installing my JWT cams 3 yrs ago and I started the car up with it on there and thought i really messed something up due to the clanking and banging i heard. haha

ive heard of someone using the windshield washer hose as the vacuum source for the fuel pressure regulator. now thats funny!

no no sorry to dissapoint but she is not QUITE running just yet. I have a few small things (like that &%$#ing c clip on the BOV) and I guarantee she'll be up and running before or during this coming weekend!

...Unless I did something ELSE compltetely wrong....

I put the ex cam on the intake side of my RB20 and vice versa. Reinstalled everything and tried to start the motor....funny it won't start. No crank angle signal. It's a good thing the RB20 is a non interference type motor, I would have smashed a valve for sure.
