It rolled off the line this past Monday, the 20th. I got to see it for the first time this morning and D*MN it is nice! "Job one" is an Emerald Graphite JX35 with the Java Leather/Maple Interior Accent interior and has the premium, theater, and drivers assistance packages. I am really impressed with it and am really glad we won the contract to build it over one of the Japanese plants.

Sorry I can't. Getting caught using a camera in the plant is grounds for immediate termination. It'll probably be shown to a few dealers and then come back to sit with the rest of the "job one" vehicles on display.

Awesome news!

I really like the JX, can't wait to see it in person.

BTW, welcome aboard - We have quite a few people from Nissan here, including a couple from the Canton plant, a few from the test facility out here, and a couple from Corporate.

Thanks! I'm glad to here that there are other employees that are also enthusiasts.

The JX definitely fits in with the bold design of the Infiniti brand. It's a lot bigger than I expected, but it was also sitting right beside the Azeal concept so that probably had something to do with it.

There is so much happening here within the next few years, it's just exciting to think about. The new L42L Altima is going to be released in the next couple of months, the new Pathfinder will be out by fall, the Leaf goes into production around December (we FINALLY have the battery plant almost finished), we will start production of the next generation Rogue in 2013, the Dechard plant will be building a new RWD(!) I4 engine for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti in 2014. Infiniti will also get a compact car that will (supposedly) share the same platform as a new C-class Benz. These are exciting times for Nissan. :woot:

Hey Phantom. I have to say that I'm pretty envious of your gig. I had a chance to take a tour of the BMW X5/X6 plant in Greer, SC this past October and I was blown away! The level of automation is something most of us will never get to see or appreciate up close but more impressive to me we're the people who really put their hearts into building the vehicles. I learned so much on the 1.5 tour but wanted to go back in immediately after it was finished.

As much as I love my BMW, my wife is a big Infiniti fan and we're planning to buy the new JX in the next couple of months. Now I just have to figure out to get my company on the VPP list!

I think we can help with the VPP thing... :)

I'd really love to see an article from an "insider", about the inner workings of plant operations (even if it doesn't seem interesting to you guys, it's interesting to those of us who don't get to experience it).

I'd definitely run it on the home page - anonymously, if necessary. :)

Hitman: I'd LOVE an Arizona hook-up on the VPP! I'd PM you to follow-up but I think my account is too new to do so. Can you enable that for me so we can connect off-line? (don't want to take the thread to far off track). Thanks.
