i got pulled over by a nice gentleman who asked me if i was driving a honda, **** you once, then he says my headlight is out and my muffler is too loud, **** you twice, then he asked me to pop the hood, so he points to the bov and asks what it is, uh..its a air relief valve for the intake sir. points to the mbc, thats intake adjuster is illegal, **** you three times. im gonna have to send u to the referee, nooooooooooooooooo! o yes, im a piece of **** and i want to ruin ur life, go get anal raped with a sandpaper condom. thank you sir. ok so anyone in cali know of anyway to get the redtop to pass, i know there is no way, but someone please tell me they passed by taking special brownies or something. im gonna get rid of the knn fipk, mbc, and bov and catback and put a cat on, so all that will be ok, but the motor!

Sorry to hear that man. I'm glad NY doesn't have smog refs and all that other crap you Cali's have to go through. Although you guys have alot more "real" shops and no snow is a definate positive. Maybe you can find someone who you can pay off....there is bound to be a ref whos is "crooked" or "helpful"....

I was going to say, I got pulled over for a headlight one night 15 min after it went out. I told the officer that I was getting a replacement the next day when stores are open. He still wrote me a fix-it ticket and I had to go to the station for them to sign it off after I replaced it. That sucked, but you're in a way different boat... :-\

Shouldn't have popped the hood. I doubt the office would have probable cause to open up your hood (I know an officer can't search your car or trunk without probable cause, so I assume the engine bay would be similar). But then again, if he asked, and you complied, you're in a spot. I say try to "sell" it to a family member that lives in another state and keep it there for awhile. I dunno man, I'm in Kentucky and we don't have to deal with that kind of ish thankfully, I'm sorry to hear about it.

he had the right to ask me to pop the hood, and he couldve made me do it, he doesnt need probable cause, just a reasonable suspicion, and my exhaust and gauges are plenty, plus i wanted to be as nice as possible so it wouldnt get towed. but has anyone had to go through this in ca?

OK I don't know the truth to this, but a friend of mine got pulled over and the cop did the same thing to him, making him to go the ref for a filter. He had an sr20det of course, and a week or 2 later he got a notice in the mail telling him to go to the ref or pay a fine. He told me he paid the fine and didn't have to go to the ref. It was ~$250.

BTW it will be impossible to pass at the ref because they bust out the book on you so there's no way in hell you will pass visual.

Good luck mang

Sell the car to a friend/family member, show the feds the documentation showing you no longer own the car, buy it back.

Kinda the same thing as selling it! But just sign the title over to a family member that doe not live in Cali and when it all over just tell them to sign the title back over to you!

Go to private shops from what I heard and you can find a ref that takes $pecial requests. Other than that try swaping your sr with a KA and you should be fine. I plan on keeping a KA with me when I move out there for when I have to get refed

Hahaha, probably cause only works in theory never in reality. Cops can make up anything and say its "probable cause." If a cop wants to you to open the hood, he will have it opened one way or another. Its better not to piss him off.
