Im starting to look into exhausts, like some of what I see/hear here. Dont suppose anyone knows of the Borla exhaust for an 02 SE-R application. I came across that in looking around, but it isnt full catback. :/ Im no expert, so my question is, would it be better to get a full cat back system versus just a performance muffler?

Most def, Are you still running with the factory cat/header? If so the first thing you need to do is get an after market header and an inline cat (if you need a cat for emmisions testing like in Cali) or as I have no cat.

An axle-back only is completely useless performance-wise by itself, and you need a midsection to make use of your header anyway. Get a full catback.

Added VMPhil to index.

Ive got a Nismo header w/ the cat on it. Need a cat in NC (unfortunately).

Another question. Im running into statements around the net that the Nismo header with the cat has the same precat failure issue as the stock. Is this true? If so a different header is in my very near future.

First I've heard of it.

If the precat failed, it'd have the same effect. I'll look around and see what I can find about the rate of failure for the NISMO precat.

I appreciate it.

I ordered a magnaflow catback a few days back, btw. Found a good deal for one, and loved the exhaust note from one of the vids I watched.
