Hi, this is the latest works on my troublesome KA24DE engine.EGR system was competely and correctly removed thanks to Collins. (a pro tech)After EGR removal ECU was reset (Negative-plug to Positive terminal) and the engine ran great. But the NGK V-Power spark-plugs were still fouled so I got BOSCH Platinum 2+. I already had new O2 sensors.

After that I felt the engine having sputters under heavy accelerations. If I ease the gas and accelerate slower it would go away.

So I got rid of the crappy cone Air Filter and put in an OEM airbox with cold-air pipe and a new filter. I even sprayed the MAFS with MAFS cleaner. ($6.50) I put in 89+ Oct Shell gas and half a bottle of STP Super concentrated injector cleaner into my half tank. My fuel filter is only 300 miles used.

Now my engine still sputters under heavy acceleration and the engine still has a hard time starting after stopping. Like this morning it would fire, ignite and then immediately sputters and dies. I do not smell any gas in the engine bay but there's plenty coming out from the exhaust.I'm going around the starting issue by reving it before switching the key off, there fore removing any gas that might be left un-burnt inside the cylinders. I also put in a different ignition coil just in case, but it doesn't seem to help.

Could it be my alternator? But the alternator is NOT used to start the car right? The battery is NEW.Is it my Fuel Injectors pumping too much? I don't smell any leak in engine bay.Could it be my Fuel Pressure Regulator? Will a junkyard S-14 part fit into mine?

One thing I could tell about the issue is that when the engine won't start after stopping, I can take off the injector plugs and start the car. Then it would start and run for 2-3 seconds before running out of fuel.

check you gap on the plugs. I ka doesn't seem to like the bosch plugs much, get NGK'S and a spark plug gapper tool thing put them to spec. out the box they are never all right. (I'm going around the starting issue by reving it before switching the key off, there fore removing any gas that might be left un-burnt inside the cylinders.) No es supper bueno [not a good idea] it's fule injected not carb. you could acually hurt the car by doen' that. OH and check you timen' as well.
