Sounds like it was quite the nickel and dimer to me. But have fun, i don't wanna sound discouraging, just stating the obvious.

Basically the previous owner was VERY picky. Any time the car made a noise she had it checked out. For example: (all Q owners will appreciate this) she couldn't stand the sound of the heatshields expanding and kept complaining that something was wrong. So much so that she paid the dealer 6 times to tighten the exhaust shields. :) I'll take a used car from a picky/anal owner anyday.

BTW, if anyone wants to look at the service history I typed it all out and can e-mail it to you.

A little old lady...she wasn't, perhaps, from Pasadena, and only drove the car to church on Sundays?

Sorry, had to go there.

Awesone find.

It just keeps getting better, and better...

So how much will you pay me to tow that old clucker off for you? :D Seriously, I'm thinking of a second project car and don't want to touch either of my 96s yet.:)

I have an ad up in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum on it.

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....54449

Other than the fact that it's old, it does have a lot of new/newer parts.

If the transmission hasn't been replaced get an external cooler and first gear start [trimode] on it ASAP.

Find some insurance company that will give a policy for stated value [what you paid].

Dennis,

A external transmission cooler was installed by Major Infiniti on 08/14/1992 when they replaced the A/C compressor.

I will get the TCU, should I get a 1993 TCU or is JWT the way to go? Or does it matter?

Nick,

In every dark cloud there is a silver lining.

The greatest Q you can buy is from someone who had the money to constantly dealer-maintain it without blinking an eye. I don't think I will ever buy a car in just average condition. I searched long and hard, looking at many Q45s before making my purchase back in 98'. It's the reason why it still looks and drives the way it does. When I went through the telephone book of service records and saw how much the car was fussed over, I jumped on the deal. The only important part I've ever had go bad on that car was the alternator and that was to be expected. The biggest expenditure on it was T3 a few years ago to change the guides... the old guides were in perfect condition but I couldn't be sure going before-hand and have no regrets.

I've always told myself that if my Q starts costing me big money, it would be replaced....quickly (even if it's a Camry). If that time ever comes, I hope to be as lucky as you. Fortunately for me, with 175K and the original drive-train, she shows little sign of her age looks-wise and performance-wise. The money I spend is for improvements and peace of mind rather than out of desperation. For mine and the Q's sake, I hope it continues that way.

Enjoy your new Q brotha.
